Hey everybody,
I am entering a few shots in a Board of Tourism photo contest and wanted some opinions of my selections. Don’t worry about commenting on the individual photo pagesâ€Â¦unless you really want to. You can just leave C&C here in the forum.
Contest wants shots to fall in these categories:
-Wilderness, landscapes and wildlife
-People enjoying festivals, parades and special events
-Vacation fun
-Small-town life and big-city adventure
-Spring, summer, fall and winter adventures
THANKS!

I like the balloons and the Indian. The Indian because it shows off the city and the balloons because they are colorful. I'd crop out the balloon on the far left though. The animals are nice but they don't show any surroundings for context except the seal. Cool timing there. |

I pretty much agree, and am leaning towards the Indian. |

Yeah, I don't really have any "deer in the misty forest" type wildlife shots...most of mine are really tight crops. I figure it can't hurt to submit them...I could win some money and/or have them published and credited to me in a tourism booklet/website. I am not making any kind of money off these images now, so I won't be out any thing. Might as well submit, right?
Thanks for the comments guys.

just to repeat myself, the um... native american... is the one photo that I can easily envision on their winners page. It matches last year's winners content-wise and quality-wise.

Thanks for the P.C. boost in confidence! :)
I had to touch up the sky and the statue a little...I hope it doesn't look too "shopped", as the rules say something about "no digital manipulations." So all these are not far off the out of camera data. A little contrast, levels, color won't hurt right? I wish I had a wider lens at the time of the balloon glow...the shots just didn't turn out as I had pictured in my head. And I know I am "shoe-horning" in some of the wildlife pics, but what do I have to lose?
Thanks again, -drew |

Definitely the statue of the Native American. Just has way more content than the others, and is very well done. (Balloons ARE colourful, but a little generic. Pintail duck is fabulous, and seal looks like a bronze statue - but for the crowd and the fish I'd a been fooled). |
