Hey my fellow DPC'ers :o)
I'm coming to you with a genuine request and as many of you know me here I am hoping you might be able to help!
So here goes...
I belong to an online support group for people with Brain Tumours and their caregivers, family and friends. When Rose was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme IV this group was the friendliest most helpful place I found and it's members are some of the bravest, strongest and most caring people I have ever met.
A few days ago there was a post made on the forum about a little girl called Katie...
Katie was diagnosed with an intrinsic brain stem Glioma in October 2006 and in a couple of weeks she will be celebrating a special birthday. Katie will be 13 on 28th July 2007.
Her birthday wish is to receive a card from EVERY state in the US. To date the only states she is missing are:
Maine, NH, VT, SC, RI, ND, SD, KS,IN,KY,MA
Katie has also begun to get cards from all over the world and my own card is on its way to her as I type!
So, my fellow DPC'ers, WHEREVER you are in the world if you would like to send Katie a card and hopefully help this little girl smash her goal just SEND ME A PM and I will pass on the address to send your cards to.
Thanks to all of you for reading {{HUGS}} x

Hmm. Usually I am just a scumbag who only thinks about myself(semi-sarcastic), but this sounds like an awesome idea. Count Delaware in. |

So if she her birthday is the 28th, being in Delaware, I should probably mail by the 23rd to be safe? Thats 5 days...which will have it getting there by the 28th at the latest, and the 26th at the earliest. Does that make sense? |

I talked to this little girl in South SUdan by satelite phone this morning - she asked me to send a card to Katie from her. Unfortunatley South Sudan has not postal system and Nyangok has never been to school so she can't write. The postcard will have a Massachusetts postmark.
ANd this is the card I sent - It's not Nyangok but a much wealthier village girl. She has grass to pay for her tuition, she has a nice dress to wear to school and a book bag in the hopes that someday there might actually be books.

Edit to say: Both images are beautiful and have special stories behind them, thank you for sharing them and for thinking of Katie :o)
