Since I so enjoyed the recent puzzle challenges, I thought I'd post this and see whether people can figure out what it is. I encourage you to look at it and post your guess without looking at other people's thoughts. :)

Edited: I've posted the answer below.

Hey Jeff are you looking for the specific model or just a general "What it is"? ;)

Try an aircraft either landing or taking off.

Indeed! you can see the reflection of the landing gear.

Just generic. Specific model isn't the point.

To be clear, I took the shot and know what it is; I'm not asking for help identifying it, but rather offering a little brainteaser. :)

And just to be sure, it's a commercial aircraft, probably an airliner.

I would say it is landing guessing from the shape of the wings, probably similar to a 767 or something of that size (crancked up curves in Gimp... does it count? :) ).

I'm going with airplane as well - I can just make out what looks like landing gear.

Ok. Strike that. :) The half-rounds on each side I thought were handles. Now I see that they appear to be engines.

Airplane, airplane, airplane... :P

Think of laying as in laying an egg.

Gotcha!
...Laying his camera on the floor and lying down beside it, Jeffrey snapped this image of a ceiling fixture. Little did he know that behind the mirrored surface a security camera was poised to record his covert deed. The glare of the light bulbs obscured his view of the mechanism hiding inside...but the slight polarization of light provided by his lens filter saw through glossy eye to the true eye behind....

Good guesses so far.

One response, and then I'll post a brighter version that makes it obvious later: that's not a reflection of landing gear.

Looks a little like one of those convex driveway mirrors, at night, of course.

Sorry folks... you are all wrong. ;)
It is a Christmas tree holder with lights attached around the base!

Here's the spoiler image:

It's not a reflection of landing gear, it's the landing gear itself! :)

The story is that brownsm is in town, so we went shooting last night. We ended up at a park that's right off the end of the runway as several planes came in to land. They're only a few hundred feet up by the time they pass that spot and I was using my 70-200. The spoiler version's so noisy because I shot at ISO 100 to keep down the noise, and then had to shove the exposure up very high to see anything. When I shot at ISO 800 or 1600, I could easily freeze the planes, but the noise was awful.

I need to go back in the daytime. :)

KaDi, you win the prize for most innovative answer!

I'd say the noise would be pretty loud no matter what ISO you were using, if the planes are coming overhead of you at that height. ;-)
