I can't believe people didn't see how this one fit the challenge:

//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=32833

It's a cat looking out. The cat is inside. It's looking out. Inside Looking Out.

I loved the reflection on the glass, so subtle (apparently too subtle!) :)

I gave this one of my few 9s.

I also marked this one very high mainly because of the colors. It was one of my favorites this challenge.

Sorry I would have given it a 5 the picture just fails to capture that the cat is sitting inside and looking OUT - it could be just sitting inside looking anywhere. Also as a compostion unnecessary chopping off ot the paws on the cat is a minus. Had the paws been hidden by the window frame then it was a gem.

Reflection is too subtle to work...

But thats just my opinion :)

To be honest it took me a bit of time just now to figure it out.

Maybe if there was a bit of window frame showing to make it obvious that it's a window, or something. The reflections on the glass aren't obvious enough to make it instantly visible.

I didn't get to voting on this one but when I am voting through 200 pictures, the shot has about 5 seconds max to win me over and maybe persuade me to look longer and deeper. My instant thought on looking at that one was "Oh, it's a cat. And a vase. Oh and he's looking at me. It's a bit dark and what's with the funny shadow?". It was only because I was trying to figure out how this was so "obvious" that it dawned on me that I was looking through a window.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice photo. But to me, the whole point of having a challenge topic rather than free study is that you really want to photo to scream the challenge topic at you as soon as you set eyes on it. Imagine that photo, but backed off a little, with the edge of the window frame in view. Then you'd have an immediate and obvious visual clue what was going on.

Now look at the winner - it really couldn't scream "Inside Looking Out" more loudly :-)

[edit: can't type on monday mornings...!]

I had to look twice as well; just a bitmore of a cue to the presence of the window would have been good. I liked this so well I gave it a 9. I was way off the curve on this one, but I wouldn't change my vote. I like it very much.
