If my subject is wearing something blue, like jeans, but I want the jeans to be yellow for some reason, through layers/masking etc, is this allowed?

I don't think it's a problem to change the color of something in your photo, as long as you don't replace it with something from another photo.

That's legal in Advanced editing, but not in Basic. You can color-shift in Basic, but you can't use layers or masks to do it. Refer to the tutorial on Selective Desaturation for hints on how to accomplish that.

you can change the color of an object, but i don't think you can choose a color and paint it in. but hue/saturation and the like should be alright, then mask the adjustment layer so only what you want shifted shows through the mask.

i color shifted this image with hue/saturation. the basic edits are listed in the details.

yeah you can do that. I believe it is legal in all rule sets except Minimal Editing.

edit, ok rule out basic also.

i'd be interested to know if this is correct. Because i'm not sure i see the difference, nor where it is specified in the advanced rules. So if true, I'd be happy to have the confirmation because i always thought color change was a borderline exercice. Clearly partly inside the agreed limits (I can remember a couple of ribbons doing that). So i would be happy to know where color change becomes illegal in advanced.

thx.
