Here is the version of my photo I should have used. Am still learning to use my new camera and my software. Was so in love with this site that I didn't bother to crop it down to emphasize the fish more. Even though some commented that they didn't think this was very newsworthy, people in my area flock from all over the world to fish this spawn, and should have made that more apparent in the title. My DP challenge outtakes

Yeah, technology was my first entry. So far, this week's is a little above 5 so my beginner's luck may be fading. And I am working

harder each week!!! (and also learning, and that is what is most important, anyway.)

These are all excellent, Alan. Have you tried any with a wider
aperture to get a less in focus crowd/ background ?

Alan, those are great! I assume you had somewhat more authentic press credentials than we were briefly considering here...

Well, you could say I've definitely considered it, but since this is my own equipment, I only have a 5.6 300mm lens (unlike the fancy <2 ones the "real" pros use)... so I'm somewhat restricted by that. During this game I kept it as wide open as possible, which was also necessary to achieve the high shutter speeds I wanted to use... but I'm definitely limited by the lens itself.

Heh... they were quite legit, actually! :)

I have, however, gotten right through White House security with a press pass that I printed up myself, though. I do actually do a news section of our company's main web site, and I was legitimately covering presidential visits for that purpose... but I did just create a press pass with computers here, which amused me a bit.
