Let's not get all excited. Back in the "past" when I had dialup even loading text was a pain in the butt. However, it was nice of you to spend time trying to help others. Please, let's not all get in a huge debate here that carries on for days. It's pointless. Thanks for the help and time you spent...maybe name calling isn't the best but I'm sure you used in out of context and in the heat of the moment. I agree with konador, I've seen some pretty awesome GREAT teens on DPC with manners and a lot of respect for others so let's not go there either:)

So...why not stick to the subject at hand and not all fuss like ummmmm idiots :)

Can you really say this comment that was made, was helpful when he redid the post?????

NO you can't its DEMEANING AND DEGRADING and then he continued with this....

Complain away, I don't really care...I was specifically requested to explain my methodology by seveal people in the thread. I spent a good bit of time on that, the bandwidth of which amonts to about 5 regular DPC shots. Furthermore, you don't have to wait for the shots to load if you don't want to look at them.

A sliver of appreciation was all I could have hoped for, but instead all I get is complaint. Well, shove it. I'm not on the bleeding payroll around here and I certainly don't need the kind of ungrateful prattle that response posts contained. I'm certainly going to think twice before offering any friendly advice in the future.

Well with that attitude you would think the least he could do is understand why I am offended for what he called me and another person for saying it was TOO MUCH in one post!!!!!!!!!!!!

The least he could have done was edit the post and remove that word...but its way to late for that now!

anna,

settle down. we're going to have differences of opinion and manner of responding to things. I think jimmy was very helping, and despite his ire (which is understandable to me) I think you are carrying on a bit too far. Why not have a nice glass of lemonade, sit on the porch and listen to the birds sing instead of worrying who says what on this forum? Works for me most days! :)

how would you feel if you were the one he called a bastard? The least he could have done was edited the post instead of continuing it...but of course like always everyone expects me to just ignore it and take the abuse!!!!!!!!!!!!
08/17/2003 02:39:26 PM · #56
I get called that daily :-)

08/17/2003 02:40:47 PM · #57
Yeah, kiwi's a bastard.

But then again frisca calls me names everyday too. ;)

If you have no respect for him, why does his opinion matter? And if you do have respect for him, show it.

See? Either way, that's the end.

(Nobody said lay there and take the abuse, we're just saying you've had your say).

OSS...don't take it so personal. It's online and you tend to use a lot of these >>> !!!!!

I'm sure it's not the first time someone has cussed you or called you a bad name. It was tongue in cheek and keeping the forums in a uproar does no good.

Lemonade ?

Don't tell me what I can and can not do. If he can call me that then I have every right to demand it be removed from the forum or at least an appology!

I don't take to being degraded in anyway and that is exactly what is going on. Its ok everyone I will be gone from the computer for the next hours so please talk about me anyway you want!

You have no right to demand anything to be removed from the forums thank you.

First off, I wasn't telling you what to do.

Second off, you aren't worth the keystrokes it would take to get through to you.

Sher...I'll have that prozac now :)

Why not install Proxomitron and make that choice for yourself? I got tired of people embedding full-size 6.3 megapixel images over in the 'dpreview' forums, so I wrote a quick Proxomitron filter that converts any image embedded in a 'dpreview' forum post to a link that must be clicked instead. It should be easy to do the same thing for the forums here on DPC, and then you wouldn't have to worry about who posted what.

Plus you'd get all the other great benefits of Proxomitron (such as ad blocking). It's free too. Oh, and I recommend JD5000's Proxomitron configs.

I just went through this thread and I get the impression that people may have an issue with photos that are shot vertically? Can I be reading this correctly? There is nothing in the challenge details that says the shot has to be landscape..... you could not possibly for one moment really expect only landscape shots!

Tell me I have misinterpreted this thread!

Todd, I do hope you're right - and that rotating 90 will be allowed. I must say that it was a deciding factor in my final submission (well, final so far), that I didn't have to spin it though.

My issue is that I have a camera that'll shoot in 3:2 aspect ratio, and I know I'm going to get called for it.

Sorry, Mav...I have to agree that rotating is NOT post-processing and is, therefore allowed. I can rotate a photo in Windows Explorer, for cryin' outloud -- it's not "processing."

ella --

the 7i has better than sepia -- it's got color filters built into the camera. turn your camera to b/w mode and then choose the "COL" selection on the dial on the lower left side of the left of the camera. You can scroll through like 10 different color filters that are applied to your image.

Its just one of the many things some people don't consider 'post-processing' but is not an in-camera adjustment. The rules seem pretty straight forward - nothing that isn't done in the camera, other than resizing.

So no sharpening after resize, even though its absolutely required.
and no rotating, unless your camera has a sensor that detects orientation and automatically rotates the image.

Yes its stupid, but some people seem to like it that way.

On an entirely unrelated issue, can we get some prozac to go with all this WHINE!!!!!!!!!!! ?

I usually don't participate in these types of forums. But here we go: take a chill pill OneSweetSin, you're having another one of your hissy fits.

the EOS 10D actually have an orientation sensor that automatically rotates cameras shot in portrait orientation in camera.

im sure there are others that do this too

Is there something wrong with your keyboard ? It seems to be sticking. Nobody could have a life that dramatic.

"In emails, there isn't an easy way to convey emotions, inflection of the voice or sarcasm. If you type something in an email, it can easily be misinterpreted since you have little control on how they read it. The use of smiley faces, underlining words to show emphasis and putting comments in parentheses all help to express a thought more clearly. Using these additions has a side affect of augmenting their meaning. When someone uses all uppercase letters, I imagine them screaming their entire message at me. By the same token, when a sentence is followed by an exclamation mark I read the sentence as if the person is exuberantly declaring their message. Two exclamation marks indicate to me that the person is so animated that they are very nearly falling out of their chair. I have a feeling that such extreme levels of enthusiasm are not intended by the writer. I submit to you however, that using five exclamation marks is right out.

The saying, "Less is more" rings true in the case of exclamation marks. One will suffice for almost any occasion, and forming a small army of exclamation marks to attack your reader with excruciating force is entirely unnecessary. Another appropriate analogy would be the boy who cried exclamation mark. If you use it all the time then people will begin to realize that you really don't have anything to exclaim. They will probably assume you have become addicted to their use and can't stop. One of the worst cases I have ever seen of exclamation excess was in the greeting from a personal ad. Every single sentence ended with an exclamation mark. One would think that generally, people want to make a good impression, but shouldn't that be even more true in a personal ad? What kind of person has so much exuberance bubbling from them that everything they say is an exclamation?

Perhaps I am overly sensitive to our friend the exclamation mark. Perhaps he really likes to be with his friends. Perhaps exclamation marks get scared of being all alone amidst all the letters since most offenders don't bother to end sentences with any punctuation at all if they're not using an exclamation mark. If this is the case, I must advise you that the exclamation mark is a sick and twisted creature indeed. "
