Well with my score languishing at 5.2, I thought I'd share my outtakes for the blue week. Most of them are here.
Love to get some feedback on them. |

gordon, autumnal flare is definitely my favorite amongst your (all good) out-takes. i like how it is almost abstract but still recognizable what you are looking at. |

You really have photography eyes Gordon! Many good shots. I like Stranger in the Night, Blue Swirls and Blue Locks best. Blue Swirls is the way I thought this week but I wish I had a photo like Stranger ... I´m doing rather well anyway, round 6.3 so far. I didn´t had so many object to choose between as you, in fact only one, but instead I had about 20 quite good shots of the same object. And it was a hard time. I decided in the very last minute. Once again - you are good at this Gordon.

i had two pictures to choose from, one 'screaming blue', one more subtle. i decided to enter the more subtle one and brave the 'didn't meet the challenge' comments. just wondering what people would've said to this one, i was going to call it 'breakfast blues' or 'blue plate special'.

Wow Gordon, Very nice photos. I love the one with the racing black car the best, but all of them are exceptional. good luck in the challenge.

Gordon, your Miata would have been a real contender this week. How did you make that shot?? John M. |

It is just a badly done panning shot. Here's an article discussing how to do it: panning |

I debated forever on these other two. I went with one I was happer with as a photograph but if i wanted to score well...the bottom one would have been nice.

Mine is close to your 5.2 at 5.8... I keep going downhill. Anyway, here are my outtakes. I likely chose the wrong one again, but my last minute critiquers liked the one I entered too... so. Tell me what you think of these. My original idea was the inverse flame, but was afraid it would look awful on the white background DPchallenge has.

gordon, i like the cap warp II the best.
gr8, i think that's very funny and cool.
jimmy, i pref the first one.
kandy, the blue flame is REALLY cool! how did u do it?
HERE ARE MY own non-submits. I believe I sub'd the wrong one but hey that's life in the big internet, right? lol
comments welcome.

It woud be nice if paying members could opt for a frame on their photos, like they would chose in "real" life to emphasize the colors in the image a little bit more than just seeing them on white. Pbase does theirs in black, so none of my darker photos look good on the albums.

[/i]Built a fire (pronounced "far" in Arkansas!), then did an invert colors on it (which I was told was legal), and a bit of a crop and that was that. Don't you agree that it would have looked bad on the white background, though? That's what kept me from submitting it for the most part.

Gordon, I really like 'Stranger in the Night'. The composition & colours are great. gr8, ewww, I mean cool. A real shame you didn't put it in, I think it would have done well.
I certainly went with the wrong shot - I'll be happy if I manage to scrape a 5 together this week :-/
Here's what I rejected ... blue
Kandy, I believe frames will be available when DPC2 goes live, but don't quote me on that. You can change the colour on pbase by changing the style sheet for each album.

I can get the thumbnail pages to change, but not the pages with the individual images. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, even tried going to "edit this image" to see if I could change something there, no luck.

If I change the stylesheet to standard, both the thumbnail and image pages change to a white b/g. Maybe your browser is loading a cached page? Try a CTRL-F5 forced refresh on the image page after you make the change.

i took over 100 pictures this time, on two different cameras. here are some of my blue outtakes. the others are elsewhere on my site. but i warn you, you will see my actual photo on my site (not in that link), as i did not especially take the picture for the blue challenge, i just happened to take it during the week.

Someone just sent me a guide to Y'all-bonics so I'm much better prepared to follow some of these threads... |

Gordon,
Your Blue Swirls shot is incredible, though you and another famous photographer on this site would have had to battle it out :) Blue Showoff is definitely my favorite. The composition of that shot is just awesome, and the colors are screaming! (in a good way!)

I have to show my outtakes.
I am sure I picked the wrong one, but my daugter was thinking of doing a pic with the black one so i didn't want to use it too. She wound up not using it :(.
I'm kind of surprised with the low scores, but i should know by now that people hate cute animal pics!
I say, YOU JUST TRY TO GET A GERBIL TO STAY STILL!

I don't. I thought that was a really neat shot.
I really like 'black and blue' too, but think you went with the right one for the theme of the challenge.

Here are my blue outtakes.
Many have mailed me and asked about my glasses. Well, it´s not glasses it´s just one glass on a mirror.

I had one Blue Alternate, but people also seem to not like overtly funny photos either... |

Gordon,
I like "Blue Locks" the best. I seem to see a cameo image of a lady in one of the window panes. Probably my imagination but that's good!
