I started with a 4 and then rose majestically to 4.02xxx, or something...
The language trap in the challenge title/description is just begging for dnmc hoorays. I was first struck by the lack of mutual exclusivity in the two opposed things in about 99% of the shots. Then I considered that dichotomy is as often as not a contrived division into two groups for the sake of comparison or discussion. It is often said (I think) that e.g. good and evil are neither mutually exclusive nor entirely distinct. Nevertheless the dichotomy is there and is useful for moral orientation (and maybe a whole bunch of evil things as well). I shall be kind. |

sounds good, another thing i noticed is that alot of the shots are title dependent. |

I did a fair bit of reading on this before the challenge started and a lot of dichotomies are actually false dicotomies. Either because the two sides are not mutually exclusive. E.g electronic vs print. Who says you can't publish on the web (electronic) and print? Or else there are other options. e.g. Pet lovers - Cats vs dogs. What if I am a horse lover?
In my voting so far, I think that those who did a bit of reading really got this challenge. And if you didn't? Well...the numbers will hopefully show.
Incidentally, I know mine is a false dichotomy. :)
Oh yes: If you think my entry is DNMC then you better say so and why. Or else I'll get all...um. Yeah.

I hate saying DNMC. Just because I don't see it doesn't mean its not there. Does it mean I'm small minded? I don't think I am. I think I can "see it" or at least what the photog meant it to be in quite a bit of these but there are also quite a few that I just don't get. I won't be voting on the ones I don't get though. So far I've looked at every image in the challenge and there were two that really grabbed me. So far those two have 10's and comments and one of them even faved.
So if I say dnmc in the comments in any way on your shot (probably something like "I don't get it") then rest assured I did not give it a vote. |
