Vote and leave comments. Don't just blow through a challenge by voting on a picture after 2-3 seconds, but take your time, especially on the pictures you don't like. Taking the time to look at other people's work and decide what you do and don't like, and then putting that into words will help you find your own style. |

The fact that you want to become better means that you will. You'll keep trying new ideas, seeing things in your own way, finding out what works, what doesn't. You have a really interesting port ........ LOL I'm just starting to explore it and it's fascinating, it's fun.
I really like this
This shot fascinates me......

I highly recommend that you read the interview with Skip Rowland, if you haven't already. The answer is in there.
As Skip is always reminding me, you have to shoot, shoot, shoot, and shoot some more to become better. You have to "become one with your camera".
I think of it as your camera becoming an extension of your eyes and your "vision". |

As LindaLee said continue to shoot shoot shoot. In addition, study other people's work that you like and PM the photographers if you have any questions about them.

I think the best way to learn is to hang out on the forums. You will see the discussion about lighting and composition etc. I really started to watch the forums when I got my Rebel XT and decided that this was a hobby that I wanted to get into. That was only about 6 months ago and I see a huge improvement already, I never stop looking for a good photo. I am definitely not a great photographer by any means but I have been getting progressively better. Set some goals and don't stop until you reach them!

Put as much information in the photographers cooment box as you can, about how and why you took the photo. The commenters will have something to go on if they want to suggest camera settings or comment on whether you acheived your goal in the viewers eyes. NA doesnt tell us much.
