Did I miss something? Why are there two third place ribbons in the Solo challenge? And why is there a missing photo in fourth place? It just says, "This image has been removed."

the fourth place was moved to third because both the third place ribbons have the same score, not fair to give two pictures with the same score 2 different places, i think that since the bumped the other one up they didn't wasnt to bump up the fifth place to fourth place because it isn't the fourth best score its the fifth best score |

The two third places were tied in score (7.000) and therefore fourth became third...so there was no fourth place...it jumps to fifth place...hence the blank image sitting in fourth place.

Both of the third place photos averaged the same score. And when there are two photos in third place, the next highest vote getter is 5th place, because there are 4 better photos. |

There was a tie for third place. When a tie affecting ribbon standings is called to our attention, an Administrator will manually edit the PLACE value for the affected entry so each gets its proper ribbon.
Since there were two entries in third place, there is now no entry in fourth. When the system doesn't see a 4th place entry, it assumes it was removed.

Well, I guess that makes sense. I've never seen that happen before. Is this a first?

Third time. We had a tie for second in At Work (Challenge 109) and a tie for third in Kitchenware (Challenge 670).

Thanks, I guess I missed that one. :)
So, there is no fourth place finisher, even though somebody had the fourth highest score?

The scores were:
7.4395
7.16
7
7
So latentflip actually had the 5th highest score. 3rd and 4th place just get turned into 2 third place spots.

No one had the fourth highest-scoring photograph.

That's one way of looking at it. Another would be...
7.4395 <--- 1st place (highest score)
7.1600 <--- 2nd place (2nd highest score)
7.0000 <--- 3rd place (3rd highest score)
7.0000 <--- 3rd place (3rd highest score)
6.9250 <--- 4th place (4th highest score)
IOW, the two photos with 7.0 scores would actually share 3rd place.
It doesn't really matter to me either way. It just seems kind of funny to have no fourth place finisher.
Oh well. :D

So the real 4th and 5th don't get to have their 4th and 5th icons on their profile? Would it be possible to maybe make the adjustment below 10th? That way no one loses any added goodies for being in the top 10? |

This is usually how it works for a lot of competitions where there is a tie.
7.4395 <--- 1st place (highest score)
7.1600 <--- 2nd place (2nd highest score)
7.0000 <--- 3rd place (3rd highest score)
7.0000 <--- 3rd place (3rd highest score)
6.9250 <--- 5th place (4th highest score)
Just look at timed sporting events like track and swimming. If there's a tie for 1st there's no 2nd place medal and if there's a tie for 2nd there is no third place medal. (At least I've seen it happen this way) |

We do it the same way as it is done in the Olympics. If there are two gold medalists, there is no silver medalist.
Likewise, the five highest scoring entries did indeed finish in the top 5, and the ten highest entries did finish in the top 10. The only thing that changed is that the FOUR highest entries finished in the top 3.

I think this should be changed. From now on if there is a tie, the tied members should have to enter into ritual combat, using one of the many timewasting games in the forums to decide the winner!
