Right Angles was my first challenge and after hearing all the voting woes and complaints for the last week or so I wasn't sure what to expect. My submission received it's fair share of 1s and 2s but the curve was pretty much right where I'd expected it to be or perhaps even a bit higher. The comments I received were helpful, thanks everyone.

My personal goal was to make the top 50% and it felt good to hit that. I'm looking forward to improving in the weeks ahead.

As far as the winners are concerned, this has seen exceptionally low voting.

It feels nice to have your concept of meeting the challenge validated by a high rank (or a rank you expect). But an unsolicited advise is this: don't get fixated with the rankings. Otherwise, you'll be in constant conflict with the 1-givers, the topic police, and the quirky ones with a baggage full of hang-ups.

For the first time and some of the exceptional pictures in the challenge I guess you have done well.

Although I did not vote in this challenge but probably would have given you 6 or 7.

I too am a Nikon 5700 user and am glad to see that you got such bright colors and good DOF. Keep it up !!

i have noticed a huge gap between votes with people with cameras and w/out cameras... it always akes me wonder.. doo the people w/out cameras not understand whats good or bad?? take a look at this... //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=32206

now im not saying my picture is very good.. but people without cameras gave it a "3"... and people with gave it a 6.3... thats a huge discrepancy

It's possible, given that the average was 3.000, that only one person w/o camera voted on your shot.

It looks like it may have been one person without a camera that voted on it since the vote average is 3.00, not likely two or three without cameras all voted 3's.

Well my right angles shot and my desolation shot were both taken with my brother's G5. :) I get my Nikon today, but I can't wait to start using it.

I think that's very good advice and I totally agree. I use the goal to give myself something to shoot for. The rankings are just a way to gauge where others felt I fell within all the submissions. It's very helpful to look at the pictures on either side of mine. What did they do better? What did I do better? What can I learn.
