Hi everyone, was just reading the rules as to what constitutes legal image modifications, and was just wondering the following... Sharpening and Despeckling are allowed, but in Photoshop, under Filter->Sharpen there exists 4 options. Can we sharpen our images using any of these options or is on the first option "Sharpen" allowed?

We can also apply image adjustments as long as we adjust the whole image. Does "Selective Color" and "Channel Mixer" count? Even though they are applyed to the whole image, it would seem that they're illegal, because the end result is you end up modifying only certain colors in the overall picture.

Thanks!

I think there is an option called "sharpen edges". I would think that that might NOT be legal. However, Don't get TOO wrapped up in the editing rules, cause they are all changing again on Dec 3rd with the launch of DPC2. (if I remember correctly) there will be more filters allowed. Well, I'm off to dog sit. lol

I know that "UnSharpen Mask" is both legal and popular here... I'm not sure about the others...

Adjusting a single color/channel is a legal modification as long as it is done to the entire image.

I'm fairly certain I've got these right but as Heather said, Dec 3rd, there may be changes :)

If you mean to invert the colors as if it was a film negative, it is legal. However, photos so treated have historically not fared too well here...but most everyone also says to go with the image which makes YOU happy...
