Hi all,
Though I'd play show and tell with a pic of a dragonfly I took at the weekend. They're fiddly little critters to photograph. This is the best of about 20 shots I took.
This is straight out of the camera, apart from the fact I've cropped out another dragonfly that was outside the DOF.
Comments and editing suggestions welcome. :-)

Here's a tip, go out early morning before the sun has warmed them up. They tend not to bee too flighty at that time. You will probably find that you can snip the grass stalk off and move it to a clean background too. Also, get side on, parallel to the body to make sure you keep the whole tail in focus.
I use a 'Plamp' a flexible arm clamp to hold the twig/grass stalk in place while I move in with the tripod and geared focussing rail. This image was taken using this technique.

Great shot, Barry! Dragonflies are really fun to shoot. In fact, my new fave spot to shoot is loaded with dragonflies. I actually just find my spot and set up...let them come to me. The side-on tip is a good one, never thought of that. |

Some really nice shots!
BTW, all of these are, technically, damselflies, not dragonflies. |
