Okay, I admit it...I'm a GTG junkie. ...and I really enjoy seeing those lists of "DPC'rs I've Met" on other's profiles. I've been to several GTG's since I started 2 years ago...and it'd take quite a bit of work to generate a list of all the fine folk I've met. So....

Would it be possible and/or plausible to have a check box that I could tick on someone's profile indicating that we've met? For example, I check into DPC'r "A's" profile and remember, oh yeah, I met her in DC! Tick.

It might even have a reciprocal function such that someone who remembers meeting me could tick the "I've met this person" box and it would show up in my profile. (Perhaps with the option to turn it on or off for display within one's own profile?) Also, the possibility to enter the date of first meeting?

What say you, all?

What if a bunch of creep-o's start saying they met you and you don't want them to?

I like it too, but to flush out the idea, you have the checkbox, where is it? and where in your profile would it be displayed? on the side where your stats are, a check box in your preferences to have it shown in your profile page like your biography. I think it should be optional, even though I expect most would want it. i think the better we can get an idea of how we would like to see it the less work it would be for langdon to set up. :)

What if, only if both users check eachother's profile? Then it would appear as Met in both profiles.

You could have it set up where once both members click the box it would show up.
I'm slow...

The "I've met this person" checkbox could easily go in the left sidebar near stats. That seems the most appropriate, to me.

It could work like a "friend request" on MySpace and other social networking sites, where if someone says they know you you have to approve it, and at that point it is listed on both of your lists. If you deny, it isn't listed on either.

I'm looking for a way to automate the list making process. Right now, I can start typing my list in my profile and say, I've met Langdon and Di and RainMotorsports (which is all true) and no one can "do" anything about it. (Okay, maybe Langdon can. :))

I just want to automate the process in the same way that "+Add this photographer to your favorites" works. "+Add this photographer to the list of DPC'rs you've met"

As for "creepos"? Well what magnitude are we talking about? Perhaps, if step 2 of the idea is implemented in which you can choose to switch on "add people who say they've met me" to my list there could be a "confirm" button for each... But at the moment, I'm just looking for an easy way to generate the I've met so-n-so list without having to do much work...and in such a way that it is distinct from my "favorites". I wasn't worried about the liars (intentional or otherwise)...if that really becomes an issue I suppose we would ask to have a "report this user" button added? (I believe ClubJuggle just stuck another pin in my voodoo...ow!)

Since my "met" list multiplied by a factor of 10 on Saturday,I'd like it. :)

That would work. Some sort of confirmation. I wonder how big of a list some of the more popular photographers would have to manage though.

Can we also have a "I never ever want to meet you again..." checkbox? :)
And a "I wanna date with you" checkbox that the other one will only be aware of when he/she wants to date you too? :)

The original idea is cool, I like it.

I can think of a few people that would have their page over run with those lol (not from me, from others)

Only problem I have with this, is that I've met DPCers who have long since become inactive on the site.

I like this! It could work like the DPL invites, where a PM goes out saying so-and-so says he's met you and includes a link to go to DPC and confirm.
