My "future" picture was just recommended for disqualification...and I'm a bit mad about it. Would someone please look at my picture and tell me what's wrong with it? I followed all the rules...then I get an email today saying my picture was recommended for disqualification. Any help would sure be appreciated! :) Sincerely, Christy

First you should edit the link out.
Second, follow the procedure in the email.

I am sorry you are upset about the request. As mavrik says, just follow the request instructions, and if everything is okay.. it will ride itself out. In the meantime, votes will be given per usual.

I tried to look but got an error message from the link posted. Sorry, about the disqualification notice. Maybe the administrators will put it back in. |

there can't be any reason why you would be dq'd. it said no holds bar. the only possible thing that could dq you is that it isn't digital. |

It was already DQ'd? Or recommended, therefore they are asking for proof?
If DQ'd.. there will be a reason attached.
If proof is being requested, it is just that.. requested. |

I thought there were no rules for this challenge. And you can use any picture(s) regardless of the dates, so why would someone recommend a DQ?
LOL, that just brilliant on someone's part. :)

It isn't that there were no rules for this challenge. Rather the prohibition on anything but the normally very narrow editing rules was lifted and entry shots didn't have to be taken last week. I interpreted that the other rules (no text in particular---and I have no idea what pic was recommended for DQ here...I had wanted to put text on my shot and decided against it) still stood. Also, there's a big discussion about using images the submitter didn't originally take in another thread.
Just some thoughts.

You can have text in your shot for this challenge since the "text" clause is under "Post shot adjustments" which was waived this time. So maybe the DQ request was because the shot appeared to be an existing/known work of art, like a well known painting or something. That has to be the reason. Although the rules allow for "creative interpretation" of such works, or something like that, so the person should have simply modified it enough to get around that rule.
I haven't even voted yet so I have no idea which pic it is... Can't wait to vote and see all the creative entries. :)

Should it still be DQ if permission from the copyright holder was given?

It's not a copyright issue... The contest is for original photos by the photographer.

Ok, ok....so I ranted and raved for nothing! :) (my picture wasn't DQ'd) I guess what the deal was on my picture, was someone thought I hadn't taken it. Just for the record.....I would never in a million years submit a picture I didn't take. :) I also know that most people wouldn't. BUT, I got lots of support from lots of wonderful people...and I appreciate each and every one of you! Thanks to everyone who helped me!! :)

Please do not make references to your photo that let people know which photo belong to you.

Then I would say that by using this argument, every entry in the Future challenge that used a stock image, regardless of what it was, should be DQ....
Does that follow the logic of your thinking??

Ben, do you mean our own Stock photos, or if someone entered someone else's stock photo?

I mean stock photos from other websites, (for example nasa). If you did actually take the photo youself then there's nothing wrong with that.
