we had a blast! i showed him these two shots:
because of time constraints, he chose to go for the arnit shot.
my entry is the result of me and beau screwing around out in the yard for about an hour. gotta love those studio lights.
i hung one of those nylon waterproof tarps between 2 2x4s leaning up against the wall and had the two strobes practically pointing at each other about 20 feet apart about 10 feet away the wall. the camera was about 15 feet from beau. shot with the 24-70mm at 1/200 (because of the strobe sync), f/11, iso400.
the hard part was getting the timing down...after about 30 minutes of me throwing gallon buckets of water at him, he said, "hey, dad, i think they had 3 people doing that other photo..." rather astute young man. yes, it took a bit (well, a LOT) of tries, with the camera timer on 2 seconds, to get the timing down. yes, it would be a LOT easier with 3 people. got a lot of great outtakes, and actually had a tough time picking an entry.
i'm actually thinking of using this as a postcard ad to the developments around here, to see if other parents would like to do this to their kids ;-)
