So - I bought a Kodak 8" DPF800
The reason I chose this one:
No internal memory, it uses a mem card (will accept 4 diff kinds) so how much it holds is dependent on what size card you use
It plays/displays pics, music and video
Its amazingly easy to setup
The pic is CLEAR - its as sharp as my computer screen
Automatically plays slideshow mode with transitions & music if you choose
Right now I have a 1g card in it. Its holding 85 images, 2 pieces of music and 1 video. That's 25% of the card's volume. I'm hoping to justify its cost by showing it to clients with their proof pics displayed and selling one with each package.
Who else has purchased one and what is your experience/reaction? Anyone shopping for them? What brands do you like / dislike?

I have used 2 different digital frames, a kodak one (now discontinued) and the Ceiva. Both are connected to the internet and get their pictures from you uploading them to the site. The kodak sucked cause it had to be set up at the frame and when my wifes grandmother unplugged it it lost all the settings. Since she was hours away we could never get back to help set it up...then the company went belly-up so it's no use.
The ceiva is great, everything is done online. I got it for my parents cause us 8 kids all live in different places and this allowed us to send them images daily. It has kind of worn out it's welcome and I don't even know if the subscription is still active.
A coworker had one similar to yours and it is a great thing, I will most likly be getting one when I'm done with my military career. I really want this one but don't see that happening lol |

| A mate built one out of an old laptop. In terms of functionality this is hard to beat. Strip it bare and put it behind a frame. |

The ones made by IQ aren't bad as your able to play music on them as well during your slideshows.
theres one made by Philips thats super super clear and nice but its only a 7inch |

| I bought the same one (I think) you have for my parents for Christmas. Target had it on sale back then for $169, probably less now. It works very nicely, and my Mom really liked it because all she has to do is turn it on and it plays the slideshow (she's tech-illiterate). They're cool for the gadget factor and the versatility like what you're doing with it, but I still prefer a fine print. It will be nice when the 15" frames get more affordable, I might get one for myself then. |

I GOT ONE! ;o)
Mine was a present for my birthday from Ecce Signum and is proudly flashing it's images at me as I type :o) Not knowing what I wanted for my birthday the criteria was something I could look at when I was at home on my own and would make me smile...fits the criteria perfectly :o)
No music on mine and it took some 'reading of instructions' for us to set it all up but since then it's been great. Mines made by Summit and so far it does everything I think I need from a photo frame!
I love the fact that if I get bored with the 'cycle' of shots I can just whip the memory card out and stick a whole different collection on :o)
Funny how simple things can give us hours of fun! :o)

I've been waiting and watching for a bunch of years now, at first convinced that some day digital photo frames WILL happen, then sure that they will become cheaper and more common.
Looks like my pioneer spirit was right :-)
I am thrilled to see that more and more places sell them, soon the price and quality will be such that I'll start shopping, too. |

I have the IQ 10" model in my office.
It uses most types of memory cards and does the same things as Cindi's Kodak one.
I think an important consideration when getting these is the distance from which the frame will be viewed; my 10" model is still only 640x480, so it's rather grainy close up, but quite satisfactory at a distance of four feet or so, which is how I have it set up to be viewed. I looked at several smaller versions that have the exact same resolution, but with smaller pixels, and they look better up close.
