I never saw Office Space when it first came out. People tried to convince me to watch it and I managed to catch bits and peices over the years but decided I wouldn't waste my time, based on the 5 minutes that I happened to see. Finally, my wife and I decided to rent it, just to get some friends off of our backs. We both thought it was the best comedy ever.

Why? It wasn't slapstick funny, or jokes, it was situations that we related to. We both work in an office and the personalities and things that happen are so close in that movie. It changed my whole outlook at work.

I actually work in a place very much like that in the movie. I am a programmer by trade, and they were. Anyone in a office would love to take the printer out in a field with a baseball bat. Maybe I will this afternoon.......

Laserjet 3, 4 floors into an empty dumpster is bounced and opened up. great feeling.

We once took an old microfiche reader/printer to the highest extension on our scissor-life and kicked it over the edge. Same idea, cool explosion of parts at the bottom. It felt great.

I think this is a case where the movie itself affects people because it connects with them personally. The entertainment value of these films is dependent on the viewer's connection with his/her own life. If it doesn't connect with you, than the movie cannot hold itself on the merits of eye-candy - it's about the story.

I thought Napoleon Dynamite was funny and I have watched it over and over. But there are people who like it and people who don't like it. But I have not met one person who thinks Office Space isn't funny. I was just curious.

fact is that many find it funny (i do) but i don't get why you are mad that others find it funny. Why do you care? I am sure you like some movies that others think is crap. what are your favorite comedies?

"Why does it say paper jam when there is no paper jam?!?! You piece of s**t, never works!"

Office space is one of the best comedies ever. I could watch it over and over and still laugh. Napoleon Dynamite on the other hand...I want those 2 hours of my life back (and my $8), what a waste of time that movie was.

I had a friend once who didn't like it. He was an auto mechanic. I was laughing my ass off the whole movie saying "yes!" and "exactly!" I agree with what most people here have said. It's a movie for those who have worked in a regular office full of all those characters. If your office isn't like that in the movie, you're lucky as all hell, heh. I've worked in a few and the "characters" have been in each one. Even that damn printer. Where I work right now, there's a couple hundred of us so someone is always standing at one of the copy machines poking at buttons looking confused or opening trays trying to find the jam.

Office Space is a classic.

You know Office Space hit cult classic status with that Super Bowl ad with the Office Linebacker (what was his name? Terry something?) who just creams a fellow office worker and screams "YOU KNOW YOU NEED A COVER SHEET FOR YOUR TPS REPORTS RICHARD!"

Watch it here

I heard it was funny...but then again, I heard the same about Napoleon Dynamite too. Either way, I'll give it a go. At least it's on DVD now and I can turn it off if it sucks.

I was a waiter in a restaurant. My hair was kinda overgrown and bushy and I'd been telling myself that I needed to get my hair cut. I had a table of 8 college students. They stopped me at one point and said, "You know who you look like? Ever seen office Space? You look like that Michael Bolton guy." My response was, "I've been telling myself it's time for a hair cut. It's getting cut tomorrow."

Ha!

Watch it here

Season 1, Episode 4 of 'LOST', Randy questioned Locke about his TPS reports as well.

"And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now. "
Been there.

Ok I know this is an old movie. I watched it when it first came out but I was in the middle of a breakup so when all my friends said how funny the movie was I just thought maybe it was my mood that wasn't letting me laugh.

NOT THE CASE....

I finally after all this time watched it again and that was one of the dumbest movies ever. It had like 5 funny haha parts in it. Nothing that made me crack up laughing. I just don't see how people actually thought that movie was hilarious??? I mean everyone I talk to says "OMG that movie was hilarious, that guy with the stapler was so funny" I thought the guy with the stapler was an idiot. He wasn't funny at all.

I just don't get it because I do have that "kind of humor" I just wish I could meet someone, somewhere who thinks that movie was just "ok" not "freakin hilarious"

The funniest part was O-face!

I don't even know why this bothers me so much??? I guess because it seems like I am the only person on Earth who is not amused by this movie.

I really thing you have to work in that type of atmosphere.. I have for about 4 years nowâ€Â¦ and belive me I know were they are coming fromâ€Â¦ so to me this is very funnyâ€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦ =)

Like most other people, I have worked in offices where there was an annoyingly bubbly and high-pitched secretary, a LaserJet that would say PC Load Letter (I finally decided PC means "paper cartridge"), people who coveted stupid office supplies, weird coworkers, and managers who said "Yeah, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and do " this or that. So that movie definitely struck a chord (in a good way). My former boss had a party a couple years ago and amazingly only about 2 people out of 15 had seen or even heard of the movie, so we put it on her home theater and before long all 15 people were crammed in the theater room laughing their asses off (but not ROTFLTAO as there was no room to roll on the floor). :)

Napoleon Dynamite was so-so ... Borat was hilarious but only if you are very comfortable around the people you're watching it with ... VERY comfortable. It might be best to watch it alone so you don't feel guilty or embarrassed laughing at many of the parts.

However, I can empathize with ChinaBun because I don't watch The Office, 24, or the Sopranos, and people constantly act speechless when I say I don't (that is, after they quit talking about it to me as if simply assuming I must watch it like they do).
