I am a lifelong non-cook. I just never really learned to do much cooking, growing up with a mom that never prepared anything more elaborate than a PB&J with the crust cut off. My dad did all the cooking. When I married, Byron did most of the cooking. That being said, we've done a lot of fast food and take out the past couple of months. Now that we're moved in and I like the new kitchen, I have actually cooked at home for four nights in a row!
I made a beef pot roast with red potatoes, carrots, onions, and celery the other night that was really good. I made a pork tenderloin that turned out great, and I made some good old fashioned fried yellow squash and zuchinni. I've made the old standby, spaghetti, which is one of the kids' favorites. Tonight is BBQ chicken breasts, shells and cheese for the young'uns, and fresh green beans. Since I don't know much about cooking, I actually had to look up how to cook the green beans. I kind of look forward to cooking more, especially now that I will have time. I guess now I should look at some of those recipe websites and get in the kitchen!

The green beans I buy you just heat up in a pot..haha.
My favorite recipe website is Kraftfoods.com .. everything is super easy & I have a lot of stuff on there as my favorites. They have good stuff for the picky people :)

Barbara that salmon recipe sounds amazing, can't wait to try it. One of my salmon faves is salmon grilled only in some butter and with mint sauce - NOT mint jelly, they're two entirely different things. Mint sauce is savoury and mint jelly is just sickly sweet. I also like salmon with maple syrup and a tiny dash of lemon to cut the sweetness. |
