Get This Book which is quite an interesting read. |

Wow. She is talented...
but while watching that video, I wanted to reach through my monitor, grab that flute, tie it in a knot, and cram it down his neck -- so he would stop skipping and prancing on stage. Maybe it's just me...
That being said, I have never seen anyone "air guitar" a flute before while prancing on stage. So that's a first. (and hopeully, last). |

He's weird but talented. If you think that's weird, he also often plays the flute while standing on one foot. It's almost his "trademark". But he's intelligent and genuinely funny. I saw a concert a couple years back called "Rubbing Elbows with Ian Anderson", which was interview and concert. The DJ who was interviewing was a dork, but Ian has class and wit.
Watch some of the old Tull clips. You will think he's even weirder, but you might get hooked on his music! I've been a fan of Tull since the 70s. I've seen them live more than any other group, with perhaps the exception of the Moody Blues.
BTW After seeing that video and listening to some clips a few weeks ago, I bought Lucia Miccareli's (sp?) debut album. She's great!

I'm going to have to check out that woman's stuff!
A. I am NOT a Zeppelin fan.
B. I am NOT a Jethro Tull fan.
C. I am NOT a heavy-metal violin fan.
That ROCKED. She's awesome.
The guitar solo ruined it though. That guy got his butt kicked SO BAD by the violinist!
You really need to check out THIS GUY's stuff though! He's a TRIP!

Hey Doc, if you really want to get into Zeppelin, I would suggest you start with their first album and work your way through them all in chronological order. Zeppelin is one of those bands where you can truly witness their evolution and maturing as a band and individuals, from their hard blues first album, hard-rock Led Zep II, breaking with a more acoustical sound with LZ III, to the classic rock album IV, and then really branching out into different arenas with Presence and Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti, etc. It̢۪s a great ride if you enjoy music and spend some time getting into it.
I have always been a huge Zep fan – I never get tired of listening to their stuff, and always hear something new when I recycle through the albums every few years. (And yes, I still have the actual vinyl records!)

I owned them all up until Presence. I also had the pleasure of seeing them twice....maybe it was only once but it felt like...well, something was double.
I would reccomend Fizzz...or Physical Graffiti because of the variety and I think they really hit a nice stride with that one.
They're all good, you really can't go wrong.

I'm surprised at how many songs I actually recognize. I'm enjoying III and II was also good. That's promising as albums tend to grow on you over time...

Presence is by far the most underrated album. Hots for Nowhere and Achilles Last Stand are incredible songs! Houses of the Holy is great and, to me, exemplify what Led Zep is at their prime. 1 through 4 are and will always be how other hard rock bands' albums will be judged... Classics... Have fun Dr...... The best thing about the group is that each time you listen to their songs you hear one more riff or diddley dee that you had never noticed before....... I think I'll pop a copy of Song remains the same into the 8-track player and reminisce.

I started with "How the West was Won" - its a 2 CD live set that came out a couple of years ago. Has most of the hits, plus a lot of improv. I went from that straight to the box set that has all of the CDs. Can't go wrong there.

When I sold off my CD collection, Zeppelin's box set was the only thing I kept.
My favorites:
Battle Of Evermore
Communication Breakdown
The Ocean
Good Times, Bad Times

If you like long loud epic type songs a la Led Zep, but don't care much for LZ, maybe try early Yes, the prog-rock band from UK. I strongly recommend Relayer. |

Jimmy Page is probably one of the best guitarists ever. I think one of the classic songs is "When the levee breaks". Zep 4 is the best album in my book. |
