Just found this site recently. I like what they're trying to do.

Interesting undertaking but I don't like how they are trying to get "one million of the best photos ever taken" as everyone has their own idea of best, what is good, and what they like in a photo.
It will be really hard to do.
As well, new photos are being takin everyday so that site will need a lot of updating.

They're still new. I have a feeling a voting system will help them keep the "Top Million"

Ah, and indeed that is the case. A ranking system is already in place - I just hadn't noticed it yet. :)

| I don't know about you but I don't think I can go through and vote on 1 million pictures. They will probably complain about not enough comments too.... |

You don't have to spend money if you don't want to. You can earn credits by voting and commenting. I wouldn't call it a scam no more than DPC is a scam.

I registered and saw you have to pay to get your photos on the site...said the same thing to myself.
Edit - Didn't know you could earn credits without paying.

i wouldn't call it a scam. it's just another service for people who want to self-publish. in some ways, it's no different than paying to have your own website where you publish your own images...
...except, on your own website, you will have more control over things.
i didn't see anything regarding copyright protection, watermarking, etc--you know, the things that plague us here at dpc.
it really is a double-edged sword, at least for professionals. are you better off spreading yourself around, having something on every site, or should you be a little more discreet about where you put your stuff? maybe the thing to do is to develop a 'give-away' portfolio of a handful of images that you don't care about how much they get ripped off, and you just put those all over the internet, starting with places such as this...
as is, though, i think i'll pass... |

For about the same amount of money, I can have my flickr account and upload all I want. It doesn't get 'rated' or 'voted on' by anyone and I can show people my portfolio from there.
