Yes, I lost a couple of them that way.

Me too...he was halfway down a flight of stairs. He bounced out and down... it was so weird.

I think my other fish is happier though. I gave him the bigger bowl. And I got him to take two bloodworms from my finger.

hey, that's cool.. I gave all my beta's blood worms once a week as a special treat.. They would suck those babies right in.. All this beta talk has made me miss them.. Wait, cleaning out 12 beta bowls every week, never mind.. I don't miss them that much.. ;-)

Haha! If I saw a ladder in Sakana's bowl, I'm sure I'd be a little freaked..

Don't beta fish eat one another...that's why they're kept seperately in the pet stores?

The males do. The males are the ones that are big and flashy with beautiful colors. The females look like colorful minnows, basicly.

The males fight to the death if they're in the same container, but I don't think Kosui had anything to do with it. Their bowls are a foot apart.

Beta fish - I prefer to wait for the final version. Too many bugs.

What did Kosui say to Sakana when he saw the bird coming?

Guess Sakana wasn't fast enough...

xDDDDD

I feel bad that he died.. Maybe he miraculously flopped his way to the toilet..

Unfortunately for him, we have a one-house sewer system that gets pumped out every other jolly year..

Male bettas will attack/kill each other if in the same tank. Sometimes they will eat each other.

They were in seperate bowls atleast a foot apart. I don't think Kosui had anything to do with it.

A good way to keep a Betta is in a large clear glass vase with a plants roots growing inside. Support the plant with one of those thin plastic dishes you normally place under a flower pot. Just cut most of the middle away so the roots hang out the bottom. The vase should neck down from the top and then enlarge about a fourth of the way down to form a nice area for the fish. You never have to feed it. It lives quite well on the roots. Remember to not over fill with water. These fish must be able to breath air.

You might try this Joe. It would make it harder for him to commit suicide if he decides he don't like you.

I'm sorry but Betta's do NOT eat plants. They're carnivors. Keeping them in those vases expecting them to eat roots will do nothing but starve them to death.

They WILL do well in a vase like that if you Feed them good food and change 1/4 of the water a couple times a week.

We only have two right now, a male and female sharing a 55 gallon tanke with a bunch of other fish, but I've kept them in small (quart to half gallon) containers for 2-3 years with appropriate water changes and food.

Had mine in there over 3 years. Healthy as can be and smiles at me all the time. But I might be wrong. I haven't researched it.

Maybe there are bugs on the roots?

Aaaah, I stand corrected. I will feed that little guy properly starting right now!!

Bettas should be fed betta food.. But if the plant has been in the water for a long time, organisms will grow on the outside of it..
I'd still feed it food though.
