I am shooting a few weddings this summer and some senior portraits. I need some references for some good labs that I can have prints made. Cost could be an issue, depending on the clients, which so far, are all on budgets. |

You're apt to get a bunch of suggestions... I just got some prints from MPix literally 5 minutes ago and they look great!

If you are a member of Costco you can't beat their prices, and I have been happy with the photo quality and service. You can upload the images and pick them up at the store in 1-4 hours, or have them mailed. |

bayphoto.com
profilmet.com
Both very reasonable prices. Profilmet has $1 8x10s. Quality blows away any of the Ritz or Costco junk.

Miller's is the 'parent' of MPIX and they cater to the professional.

I use Sam's Club, but Costco is similar. They use Fuji Frontier or similar machines that print on photographic paper (Fuji Crystal Archive matte) and develop it with chemicals, so the prints are very good quality if you give them a good file, shouldn't fade, and are water resistant. Far from 'junk'.
The local one here is also installing a large format Epson inkjet to print bigger than 10x14, and their prices are going to be very reasonable for those prints. Not sure what kind of paper choices they're going to have, if any, so I might stick with the pro lab in the next town for big prints.
Can't beat a $1.46 8x10 or $2.96 10x14 done in under an hour. Actually, I made about 40 8x10 prints last week and they were done in 15 minutes since the printer didn't have anything else in the queue. Those machines are pretty hardcore.
The only thing I don't like about printing there is that you have to use the crappy touch-screen Fuji kiosks with disgusting idiot-proof interfaces. |
