That's a point - check out local employment/temp agencies - they're rife in Norway these days.
Massive bummer about the situation though - what little I understand of it. And I don't even get to feel sorry for myself - hey! |

Ah, and it just keeps on getting better! I can't apply for retirement for a date a year from now because I'd need a waiver. I can't get a waiver. So it's a) take the 365-day summer vacation tour, with training starting in 2 weeks and the vacation tour running through next September, or b) leave the service within 90 days of Monday.
I kinda wish I drank. |

Something will come up, Deb - a lot can happen in 90 days, don't panic yet. Keep your mind open for whatever opportunities (and these might not be obvious, at first) that arise.
Is there anything outside of your current field, that you thought you might do for living (outside of photography)? |

Ok so now I am curious, and others probably know this, but what do you do or who do you work for?

Deb Sorry to hear about your troubles, wish there was more we could offer to do to help you. What happens if you leave in 90 days? do you loose all your years of service? That would major suck. |

Karen, this is the one thing that really made me laugh so far this evening. It's a lot like telling someone "don't quit your day job!"
Lots of issues to consider - I'm here under the status of forces agreement as a military person. If I wish to stay after my forced retirement, I'd have to get a tourist visa and would not be eligible to work under such, I don't think. Plus, I don't speak German. I'm sure something will come up. And unfortunately, it looks like I do have to quit my day job. Or I could just go to Iraq for a year. That's still an option. |

Yeah, I thought that might have come out a bit off from what I intended. :) I meant the obvious answer to such a question, around here in DPC-land, would be "photography!", but I wondered about some things you have in mind besides that. :)
At least I made you laugh, and on a dark day like today that's something. :D
And please, don't go to Iraq. I'm being very serious now. |

I actually got a "fav" from phreak on one of my B&W entries. That was cool and made my day. Have to return the favorite now.

Hey guys! Haven't checked in for a while. Congrats to everyone who deserves it! Great job with the ribbons and new equipment and all that.
Deb, my sympathy to you for the choice you have to make. JMHO, please don't go to Iraq! It's very dangerous for your health. You can make something else work out. Even if you need to bunk in with a relative until your house lease is up, at least you'll still be alive to go home to that house!
Current scores...

I'm getting hammered on my FS editing (thanks Jeffrey, last time I trust you! ;) and you know I'm just kidding!).
I'll be checking in again tomorrow or Sunday (have to get my entry in!). |

Oh god, that's what it is! I was wondering what the 'someplace hot' was... Yeah, please don't go to Iraq! There must be something else you can do - maybe not in Germany, but doing something else in the States? Or anything else really?
Good luck with making the decisions... |

Well.....I think ya oughta take each one of us up on our professed friendship and come stay a week with each one of us, Deb.
That'd probably get you no less than halfway through that lease......something would have to show up in your life by then!
You know your money'd be no good for accomodations and some meals, and some of us could even pitch in with the appropriate contrasting cat hair whenever you needed it!
No charge!
Back to the regularly scheduled programming for me.

Go figure after getting slammed on my Desat that I loved!
I just don't think this entry is particularly good and I only entered because I'm doing the Marathon.
Far be it from me to *ever* understand the freakin' DPC voters!
Oh.....I mighta got a wedding to do.
