Well done to everyone who has shots in the current crop. Big well done to Jeff for getting his first ribbon. Although of course now he is on that slippery slope to multiple-ribbons wherein his entire soul will be consumed by the persuit of more and more 1st places ;)

Hope things aren't too bad for you, Deb. I am sure you will make the right decision. Whatever happens, you have a home here with us suckers, and we are always ready and willing to listen should you want someone to talk to or bitch at!!

Heh. Let's work on the first first place, then the slide can begin. :) I hope to follow Skewsme's example of continuing to suck while occasionally finding something that happens to rock the voters as well.

Deb: good luck. Hard decisions suck (for real, not in the TS meaning of "suck"). The worst thing is that no one can make them for you.

Rob: you most definitely have the suck attitude. Heck, the most common initiation rite is to write an essay or poem about what suck means to you, and you covered it in your post! Posthumous might have to get creative. :) And FWIW, my ribbon was taken with my point-and-shoot camera!

Thanks, guys. I kinda like having good cyberbuddies. :-) I didn't get much more information today so I've not a lot to go on. I suspect what'll happen is that my dream job will simply come to a premature end and I'll put in for retirement a whole lot earlier than I really wanted to. It'll really put my current organization in a bind - it means I'll actually leave before my boss does and the idea was to have me there for overlap and continuity when his replacement comes in next spring.

Think I'll go get me a Starbucks and visit my poor flightless gosling friend and his siblings. Ain't even takin' the camera. Sometimes things that are too good to be true are well, too good to be true. And hey, I'm open for suggestions as to what to be when I grow up!!

Aww, I hope everything works out well for you! You never know, sometimes good things come out of bad ones in mysterious ways... Whatever happens, you've got people scattered all over the world wishing you all the best :)

Deb, someplace that's hot all the time? If this war lays a finger on you I'm gonna kick its ass!

rheverly has fulfilled his secret assignment. It is now time for the various suck teams to court his favor.

Well, we just got BAMartin so I won't be greedy on behalf of Team Minus, but I'll brag about Rob from the Where You Live project. He did some neat stuff and is very friendly. :)

Sorry guys - it's fixed now, and I'm thoroughly embarrassed.

So I printed out a couple pics I took of my favorite barista and headed to Starbucks to give them to him. He no longer works there. Sigh.

Shot a whole card's worth of pictures. Deleted 99% of them without even loading them on the computer. It's a refreshingly cleansing experience, deleting everything. I'll keep a couple of my flightless gosling, though, just for me.

Tomorrow WILL be a better day, I'm sure. But just in case, I'm keeping a keen eye out for falling pianos. And I'll be sure to take a picture if I see one.

If you see two, shoot away - that would be an impressive Double take entry :)

I knew this; that's why I'm so scared! What happens now?

In my mind, it goes like this: The equipment doesn't make the photographer, the photographer makes the photographer. Give a bad photographer good equipment and you'll get well exposed bad photographs. Give a good photographer bad equipment and you'll get wonderful interpretations that stretch the limits of that piece of equipment. Give a good photographer good equipment, and the possibilities are limitless.

Thanks for the kind words, too; 30 days where I live was good fun!

Best,

Rob

Deb, you're in my thoughts. I'm wishing happy changes your way.

Ribboners ... congrats. Way to go Team Suck. Someday the world will realize that suck is just a state of mind! I'm proud of ya'all.

I just went thru the 30-day BW challenge ... and I think I learned a lot. It was fun.

Right, since posting photo to join Team Suck, the Kodak died completely. So, I had to get new camera by mail order catalogue, Steve and I decided on the Canon Powershot A630. Just arrived today, so it all starts here and now.

Just wonder which team will take me on.

We need to find a place for rheverly and motherlee. Here are two inactive players that could be switched out to Team Zombie until they reappear:

Novice - cuspie 12/31/06
Hoover - melismatica 01/11/07

Anyone from one of the above teams can so "just do it" and it will happen.

Just let me know about any team changes so I can keep the results accurate.

Ooh, a Team Sucker really likes my Religion entry, wahey!

This is gonna cost me in score terms, but I couldn't resist entering it... It's a bit too out of the box to actually do well.

Oops - that reminds me. OYNC must go bump the OOBIE/YAPPIE nomination thread. :)

Hi everyone, I'm in Pittsburgh for the day visiting my daughter, and borrowing her computer. So I don't have time to read the thread and chat. But the very important thing I want to do is say a very BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Noraneko, Skewsme, and levyj413 -- our very own ribbon WINNERS! This is a historic day for Team Suck. How many beat Larus this week?

Gotta go. When I get home, I'll upload some trip photos. This is a great day.
