Woohoo! I just got mistaken for SandyP on my Shapes entry. What a compliment.

I looked through SandyP's portfolio, and I know why the mistake was made. But believe me, my shot doesn't even come close to hers.

Yours is an awesome shot!! I feel it does not only come close, it is just as awesome as hers!! way to go!!

There's a song by Mary Chapin Carpenter that has in the lyrics "Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug". My current job was to be my "reward" assignment - living in Germany, enjoying the good life. Today I am definitely the bug. It's work related with long-term repercussions and not worthy of online discussion, but I have to say that a sucky score in a challenge really pales in comparison.

I've thought about posting here before, but have never felt like I had quite read enough to be comfortable with the etiquette for "joining" Team Suck. I'm captain of a DPL team, and a relatively "new" participating member (December was my first challenge), but I always enter what I want, and not just what the voters are looking to give good scores to. I also might enter if I know it's not perfect but I like it anyway.

My recent "usernames" entry prompted me to come back here, and read a bit, and since my score was 16 from the bottom, I thought, "Well, I really suck, I should post here and see about joining," and then I see Team Suck doesn't actually suck! Three ribbons in shapes -- I knew it wasn't good news for my rankings when Jeff Levy got his dSLR!!! :)

Anyway, I hope it's okay I jumped in; congrats to those of you doing so well, and for me, can I, um, join? What's the current initiation task?

By the way, team suck's fearless leader "got" my sucky shot :) and even liked my selective desat, too (which didn't do too sucky). I suppose I'm here for that as much as for the score :)

Best,

Rob

Rob,

A starting point is to PM posthumous and let him know you are interested in joining and ask for an initiation assignment.

aw, deb, i hope things look up soon. being the bug is never nice.

rob e. - welcome to the team!

HOLY COW! THREE RIBBONS AT ONCE! WELL DONE EVERYONE1 YES, I KNOW I'M SHOUTING!

sorry. but, jeepers creepers, gereat work everyone. threee team suck ribbons - we will slowly change their outlook and bring them 'round to our side, just by sheer dint of niceness and repetition. are we sure we aren't all canadians?

It's been such a great day to be a Sucker!

The bug thing - got to work to find out that within two weeks or so, I may have to pack up my cats, ship them to mom (not sure how that will work and that's probably my single biggest worry), put all my belongings into storage (not sure how that works either) go to a two month school, then go spend a year in a place that's very hot most of the time. I'm not adverse to doing what's requested - I just really, really wish they'd be a bit more understanding in providing lead time and a few minor details, that's all. Worst of all - if this comes to pass, I don't get to go the European worshop. So I'm a wee bit on the bummed side. I'm really enjoying the job I have now and it just seems a tad unfair that it may end so abruptly. My option is to request retirement, which means I'd get to stay in this job for another 9 months or so, then have to figure out what to do next.

Anyway, not the end of the world (but I do think I can see it from here!).

Good luck on your hard decision, Deb and if any of us can help, even to only offer an ear and sympathy, do not hesitate to reach out. Just know that you're welcome to talk more about it however and whenever you want. :)
