It is a filter that attaches to the front of the lens that allows you to get closer to the subject and still focus. esentially it turns a normal lens into a macro lens.

I've never seen this stuff about the average score being removed from the average before. Is it because its an 8+ that it suddenly is an issue after 5 years of challenges? Give me a break.

Oh, a couple of days ago I found out that my phone was one day and a couple of hours behind for an unknown reason. I'm sorry about all those delayed SMS's everyone, please don't hang me from the highest tree you can find.

I don't think all Exif is equal. IMHO is not a reliable, because it can be forged without trace.

It can also be forged with a trace, depends on what stooge is doing it.

Actually, it was only a couple of months ago when the site started including dq'd scores in the average.

Point is that EXIF is basically unreliable.

Didn't know that. It has never bothered me before and after.
Got to admit that this person is capable of an 8+ score, so the average reflects her capabilities. The DQ in the profile is bad enough.

Sure, and I'm capable of extorting millions of dollars everyday but it doesn't mean that I get to keep it if I get caught.

I looked at her devient art stuff and she is incredible at droplet shots. she has a few that are way better than this, so yea i can see big scores in her future.

I didn't vote in that challenge but when I saw the photo on the front page it looked quite obvious to me it was a glass marble despite what the title said. Regardless why would that matter?

Cuz I can't duplicate it if I don't know what it was... ;)

she said in the comments she used a syringe and the leaf had to be smooth

Too bad about the DQ but with all the controversy aside, I am with Dr. Achoo and would like to know what liquid she used and for the same reason. She said a syringe was used. My guess would be glycerin for the liquid but it would be nice to know. Using a syringe and needle is a good idea but not sure how to get one those. Does anyone know if you can you buy one at the pharmacy without a prescription or do you have to go "downtown" to get one?

Am I the only person to notice that the great "sin" committed by our new member was that she took the picture the day before the challenge started and did not try to conceal that fact in any, including entering the actual date taken on the submission?

The image was uploaded a full week after it was taken. Obviously any one of us could have made that innocent mistake. It was not flaunting or testing the rules.

I hope she is not disillusioned by the accusations and implications of this discussion and continues to submit. She will be a great addition to the DPC family if we don't chase her away.

If you are in a rural area, try a feed store. They sell them for doctoring farm animals.

That is but one reason that tampering with EXIF carries such a stiff and heavy penalty (lifetime banishment, unless I'm mistaken). I know we probably don't catch all of it, but if we do catch it, and you would be surprised what we have caught, the photog is in big trouble with the site.

I think it depends on where you live. Some states have laws about syringe availability at drug stores to curtail to the use of syringes my multiple drug users as a way to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. I know NYC has such a law. Dunno about enforcement tho. Bet you could ask your doctor in either case.
