Selective desat sitting on 4.9. Agh, I was actually trying with this one, at least a 5+ score would be nice...
Oh, and I have no cats. I really want one, and so do all my flatmates, but we weren't sure what we would do with the fluffy kitty once we all leave uni... We have lots of pictures of cats, does that count? |

When I left last night, my desat picture had 3 votes of 4, which was pretty demoralizing. This morning though:

My desat is sitting at 4.7+. Congrats to everyone here who has one sitting in the 6's - no small feat with so many entries.
FYI - I had an outtake listed in my description for my DPL Album Cover entry that was hidden until just now, if anyone took a look before and just saw a dead link, it's up now. |

Down to 4.7, then up to 4.8. Goodness, it's a roller-coaster ride of excitement... *grumble*
I did meet a very charming cat of a very charming Edinburgh writer the other day (Augustus and Alexander McCall Smith, respectively). I love his books anyway, but my respect for him totally went up because he had a cat on his shoulder almost the entire time he was speaking to me :) |

Jeffrey, I now understand what you're saying about light source and shadow line. Thank you! It will come in handy for me.
Deb, I am just sneaking in from work right now but later on I will (casually, of course) add the sneezy to my profile...

Heh. I was sure Catherine's DPL cover shot was JuliBoc's - looked like a FL scene. :)
And Don, thanks for saying thanks. That's the best thing when you try to share knowledge!

Jeffrey, I'm flattered, but you give me way too much credit. Catherine's shot is so much better than mine. |

Ooh, yay, I just got a really helpful comment :)
I love it when people say stuff that you make a mental note of for the next time you shoot similar photos... |

Hey posthumous, ya gettin' soft in yer old age? I mean, you gave a 10 to the DPL winner! Who's gonna support my artsy side?

When I first looked at the DPL field I was amazed by the quality and a bit dumbfounded as to how I should score. I ended up skimming through and picking out two tens and two nines. Then I got sort of distracted and just managed to vote on about half before the deadline. Shame shame. I was gratified, though, to see that the two tens are in first and second place.
I haven't looked at all the partial desat pics yet, but so far mine's the best I've seen. Voters think otherwise - 5.0xxx and no comments |

I'm quite happy about that, because that was one of De Sousa's goals for this year! :)
Plus, it was a great challenge. It had a certain amount of creativity built into it. But you might also notice that I gave the yellow ribbon a negative comment and a 4. If only it had been Larus then the experience would have been perfect! hahahhahaha |

I thought about you when I saw that; looks like a natural fit. Keep some fire extinguishers handy!

Do you have a recipe for those? Will it work with chicken, too? Sounds really quite good. |
