Granted Custer deserved it and all, and I like how the Native American "victors" poked holes in the dead soldiers heads through their ears so that maybe they would listen next time. Thats a charming little touch.

Y'know, Arthur C. Clarke co-wrote a novel about being able to do just what the original post was all about...well kinda. The novel was "The Light of Other Days". Great concept. After the mechanism was fully developed, you were able to specify the time and location, and view the scene you desired. Narrowed the percentage of unsolved crimes, since you could view the crime scene as it was happening. Unfaithful spouses had nowhere to hide, either.

since photographing the earth will probably come true some day, I change my mind:
the universe from the outside, I mean the whole universe:)
and see if it's expanding or collapsing or inside a circe. I'll probably look a bit different when I get there, but I will try anyway:) |

According to the physics class I just finished, that may not be possible. There isn't really an outside to the universe. It's strongly suspected that it's boundary condition is that it has no boundary, sort of like the old Pac-Man game, where you went off one side of the screen and reappeared on the other - there is no way to leave the universe and look back on it from the outside. Your modern physics fact for the day :-)

Wasn't that by Bob Shaw?
Here's a link.
Great idea, though.

That's fine, I give you permission to use my concept just as long as it's exactly as I have it envisioned in my mind. |
