well... they claim that the moms and babies die because of an immune response of the mother against the kid. if their immune and regenerative systems are revved-up, this could make sense. a baby has a different genetic makeup than the mom, so even though there is mostly a separation of circulation between the mom and the kid (placenta), it's not inconceivable that this is an issue. moms that have a rh-negative blood-type can have a response against kids that are rh-positive. if the immune system is revved-up, then maybe a bunch of other antigens will get reacted against leading to the baby being rejected by the immune system, and the mom dying as a result of the process [comment: yes, i know this is a GROSS oversimplification... if you want an extremely detailed account, PM me, otherwise i think this is detailed enough for the forums].

so, how about this: jin's dad said that the mom was a prostitute, and he wasn't even sure who the father was. what if sun's dad had been with the prostitute, and sun and jin are half-siblings. while that would be a little icky, it would mean there are fewer genetic differences between sun and the kid and maybe she won't react against it. could be... you heard it here first.

Why would they drop that line?

I think that line was foreshadowing a new pregnancy--Kate. Remember her and Sawyer's little trist a few episodes ago? Since Sawyer now has a much higher sperm count, I think we'll find out that Kate is pregnant too.

Yeah... Juliet also mentioned getting her blood samples at the end.

well... why not make jin's daddy jack's daddy... we already know he's clair's daddy, what's one more...

then we'll find out he (jack & clair's daddy) was an original member of dharma...

ok. how many people _didn't_ figure out locke's dad was sawyer's... well... sawyer?

and jack knows what's not being said... where they are... that's interesting.

i've heard the theory that they're really dead before, early in the show. didn't believe it then. don't believe it now. i think they're playing on that theory and having a bit of fun w/ the audience in this episode.

and i so think juliet's plan is to turn on ben...

3 more this season... woohoo!

Yeah, me too. Although I think she'll do anything to get off the island no matter whose side she's on.

Looking forward to finally getting some answers about Dharma next week..

Sawyer must be watching '24' this season. His method of offing Cooper was quite remincsient of Jack Bauer doing in Abu Fayed a few weeks ago.

Best exchange of the night:

Locke: Hello Rousseau
Rousseau: Locke
Locke: What brings you to the Black Rock?
Rousseau: Dynamite. And you?
Locke: It's over there in the crates. Be careful. It's unstable.
Rousseau take the dynamite and leaves.....

Priceless.

As I've loved over the seasons to get annoyed at Jack, I'm particularly looking forward to next week and seeing the expression on his face when the tape gets played.

Ooops.

yeah... but as we know now... jack knows something they don't know. he probably knows about juliet being a mole... we'll see...

as for best exchange of the night? i liked the one where locke's dad's listing all his names off...

"tom sawyer.."

"sawyer?!?"

"yeah? what of it?"

"sawyer's my name, too..."

talk about your "oops"...

I think Juliet is playing Jack. She's got him thinking that she has told him the truth, which she probably has, about The Others coming in a few days. She is leading him to believe that she will turn on them, Others, and so forth. I think she will do what Ben wants because she knows that is her only true way off the island...even though Ben will NEVER let her go. Jack is going to tell everyone what they, him and Juliet, have planned so to save her once again from an angry mob. Juliet knows Jack cares for her and will protect her. The Others will come but it will not turn out like Jack thinks...and then everyone will hate him.

How 'bout the fact that Locke is one of them too? He told Sawyer that they're coming in a couple of days, who knows Sawyer is gonna be the bad guy now.

ok, maybe not, but I think it's interesting. also the thing that Jack knows. Maybe they were talking about her being pregnant?

oh and, I'm still waiting for the couple that got burried to come out of the ground again (what did Locke say? everything that gets burried here, comes up again, something like that?)

How many shows to go this saeson?

In January, Lindelof and Cuse said that they envisioned the endpoint for "Lost" around episode 100. The agreement with ABC will bring the total number of episodes to 120.

So if you thought some episodes moved slowly before, this will make it move even slower!

wait what?? 3 seasons with 16 episodes each? How are they going to do that? Only 2 episodes a month would only last 8 months, 2 episodes a month would suck, i like having them weekly :(

There won't be breaks between episodes - but the seasons will only be 4 months long with 8 months between them.

I hate how TV has been screwing with seasons lately.

8 months!?!

those months are not gonna be cosy around here ;)

damn, why?

I never saw then say it would be 8 months between seasons. Some shows, like Survivor, have two "seasons" in the same time as one season for traditional shows.

That being said, I'm a bit disappointed that we are so far from the finish and may just give up now. My interest in the show has been waning, but I thought there would be only one more season and I'd stick it out. Now with this many episodes to go, maybe I'll just let it go.

As I explained to my daughter: This way, they can sell six sets of DVDs instead of five.

"In a highly unusual move, the network announces plans today to end the show after three more shortened seasons of 16 episodes each. The episodes will air consecutively, repeat-free, from February to May."
