Back from Death Valley and Vegas. Man, Death Valley is one hell of a place. I really wanted to see the "racetrack" but the "High Clearance Vehicle" recommended scared me away. ;-) |

Speaking of Zion...
Zion is GREAT! So is Bryce. I'm shooting like crazy here. Funny enough when I get out to place like that I forget about DPC.
Zion had a lot of rain while I was there. However weather changes every 15 minutes or so. It goes from sunshine to rain to a bit of snow. Clouds and fog comes in and out just as quick. Too bad tops of mountains are almost always covered by clouds.
I'm at Bryce now and it is snowing like crazy. I'm getting some amazing high key shots. Hopefully it will stop tomorrow so I could do some hiking and catch the sunset.
Will post some pics soon.

I was thinking that since we are going to be on this team together, maybe we could get to know each other a little. Like what we do for a living, family, hobbies, etc. What do you guys think? |

I'm retired from General Motors after 28 yrs. I have 3 grown daughters and 4 grandchildren (one more coming on May 18!) I was married for 25 years and have been divorced for 4 yrs. I just bought my house last year, so I have been doing lots of fix-ups and redecorating (which I love).
I'm a young 49! I still find it hard to believe I'm going to be 50 in Dec!
Since I'm retired I have lots of time for photography. |

My turn. I'm an attorney, 46, work in San Francisco and live on the outskirts of the bay area with my wife and three daughters ... one about to enter college, a highschooler who is a member here at DPC, and a younger one who sometimes acts as a model for us.
Photography is my main hobby, and it gives me an excuse to travel, explore and hike, though I don't do any of those things nearly enough. I do watch way too much TV, including The Office, LOST, sporting events (SF Giants and Golden State Warriors) and other reality shows. :>)

I'm 29, been married for 8 months. Currently work in IT for an investment bank but in just over a week i'll be leaving to start out in Photography! Got to a point where i'm getting burnt out in IT and so needed a change of lifestyle.
I have always tried a number of different hobbies, I love cars and so i spent last year building the car i used for my MPH ribbon winner.
I'm also a Liverpool FC fan despite being born and bread in Essex.

Sorry to hear that Darren. I'm not getting ripped, but seeing as I submitted what I feel is my strongest image ever here, it's not doing so hot. That goes back to the whole, you never know at DPC rule. ;-)

Darren, It's a good course. I just submitted unit 4 and waiting for my results. The pictures in the books are a bit old (from the 80's), but the material is pretty good. You won't be disappointed. |

Enjoy the trip! We'll sign you up, and the season should be starting right around the time you get back.
I just pulled the trigger on a new walk around lens ... the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, which is supposed to arrive today. Just in time for the season, and my trip to Costa Rica this July. I'm going to try to use it this weekend for one of this week's challenges.
Speaking of, looked around at everyone's shots over the past couple weeks, some pretty nice shooting out there. As a team we would have been around a 6.3 one week and 5.9 the other ... I'll post a more detailed update over the weekend ... |
