I have some thoughts for Dr Seuss, but haven't taken any pictures yet.

Thanks for that update. I'm working on modifying my results script to look up the top 4/personal best for each team member. Unfortunately, the SC's confirmed that I can't caption the thumbnails using the forum codes, so I need to figure out a clean way to note our team members' achievements.

Hey noraneko, I didn't hear your thoughts on my college paper. |

Mary: congrats! It must be so amazing to see your work hanging in an exhibit.
Rob: could you make it do the top 5 instead of 4? :)

I was going to look at each user's profile page. Since the ordering of the prior challenges isn't something I can see controlled by URL arguments, I picked the limit of "top 4" based on what's displayed separately (the row with thumbnails). Basically, if the user did so well as to alter their profile page, I'd note it in the results.

Did you know that you control how many pics show up on those pages based on a number you set on your preferences page? That is, you choose how many you want to see on any row of pictures, as opposed to you controlling how many others see on your profile page.
For example, I see 5 images on everyone's profile row (both top 5 scores and 5 images from their portfolio). I set it to 6, but the preferences page says it shows one less for any page with stuff on the left, which seems like pretty much every page.
If you change that to 3, you'll see only two in each row. If you change it to 8, you'll see 7, etc.
I just asked you to include top 5 because I have a pretty good shot at replacing my 5th highest score with my Symmetry shot, which is now sitting at 6.4. :)

I just noted it manually as I went through and commented on the entries this week. Mine shows 7 across, so I count Top 6 for my purposes of highlighting top row changes.
On another note - I will never figure out how challenges will score. In my notes for my Symmetry shot, I actually wrote "I am not intentionally trying for the brown" (though I may have to remove that when the challenge ends). I entered something I very much like but that I figured would be quite DPC unfriendly. It's at a 6.0 right now. I'm floored. Stunned. Amazed. Incredibly grateful. And slightly dumbfounded.

Rob, code warrior, it sounds to me like you could also figure out the team standings with your code!! I will be your comment-slave forever if you do that for me... |

That's so tempting! How are scores computed now? Can I do something simple like get the scores from the currently displayed challenge results on like Wednesday? PM me with the details.

I don't actually "log in" with my script; I just look at the page as a random non-DPC account browser would see it. I'll see what I can do as far as automatically logging in as me (and if I can get that part right, I can automate posting the results too!)

The last 15-20 votes have bumped my score up from 4.23, and left me 2 of my comments. I need more people like this looking at my images..

I'm right there with ya, my Sym shot just now dropped to 5.98 from 6+ at start, I like it but thought it would not go over well, go figure, not that I mind you understand, lol.

Hi everyone, just dropping in to say, it looks like you are going to have me as a member of Tean Suck..... that is, in 6 to 8 weeks, when I back mends, and I can get about to take photos, and have my camera back all fixed, after my recent fall.
You all rock IMO, and thanks for all the wonderful comments on my "Black and White" images, that I have in the current "30 Day Black and White" challenge. I am sifting through all my images, and finding new photos that I don;t have in my portfolio, to process to black and white for this challenge.
Thanks again everyone.....I will try and return the favor, re commenting on some of your images, as soon as I see them.....
Anyone who would like some comments please let me know, as I will gladly do that for you, anytime..... |

So I don't have a lot of features others talk about so I get lost (oh wait that's normal for me)
You guys are great you have taught me alot. |
Yes, the 30 day B&W challenge is a lot of fun. I can't believe the number of comments I have been getting. There are some tremendous photos out there, many by our own Team Suck members. |

Okay, Bob, Wildcard helped me find the college story, and it is very amusing, to say the least. In fact it made me laugh out loud. I love literature myself, but have always had trouble wading through Toni Morrison (re: The Bluest Eye). I suspect I just don't get it...I think I might have played a little too much hangman with you guys in the back myself...
BTW - I've got 999 comments. Someone dump me over 1000, pretty please?
Edit to add: thanks guys for bumping me over! TS rocks :-)

Just wanted to mention how truly appreciative of the wonderful review and meticulous explanation Jayson gave me on my Sunrise Flight shot.
I learned much about, and from, my own picture thanks to the way he did that......it was awesome!
I assure you, the qualities and composition were much more luck than intent....I just know what I like and it sure was lovely watching the sun come up.
Now I understand why that shot worked and why I got 20 comments on it instead of my usual 2-4.
Many thanks, kind sir!

Cool! Welcome mate, and just be warned that there are some of us who know what a Seppo is, so don't start that!......8>)
I hope one day to travel down your way as I have friends there already.....some in some of those large towns like Wagga-Wagga....8>)
And I want to tour on the Ghan and do a little driving on the wrong side of the road......perhaps in a Holden that snorts like we can't get here.
I keep hoping that Amy'll join our ranks one of these days.....she's such a hoot and she has just the right attitude to fit right in here.
Welcome!
