Perhaps that is EXACTLY the question the photographer was trying to provoke!!!

;-)

In that case.... mission accomplished!

Ok. Kudo's to digital fiction weavers then.

But what if it was the latter rather than the former?

I thought this was a scores thread? Maybe you can go over to this thread and beat the dead horse around dicuss the pros and cons of EE? I am not trying to be rude but this topic comes up in every thread that whispers at EE and that thread was started for this reason about the April Free Study.

The difference is with EE the "story" can be "complete"d by adding new elements to the composition.

The question then becomes to the voter is the story being told the way it was naturally written, or has the story teller embellished with their own new characters (new elements - birds, sunrise/sunset, clouds, etc...)?

I think many voters recognize that it's easier to sit at the computer and embellish the story than it is to be a true photographer and go out and capture an enticing story that stands proud without embellishment.

As a viewer sifting thru hundreds of photos in this free study, the question hangs in the air - embellished fiction or astounding realism?

What a load. Which is easier? Having a vision, shooting a variety of images to incorporate into the final composition, editing and incorporating said images in a pleasing and comprehensive way... OR... your way?
Your dislike for EE is well documented, you've talked about it often enough but please, try and avoid words like 'cheating' and 'easy' because if that's what you think it takes, you should give it a try and see how it works out or you.
There's no question that the anti EE folks are making a statement with their voting... and that's ok. They like what they like and vote accordingly... regardless of the talent and effort behind some of these images. But stop with the holier than thou crap.

Sorry jdannels... consider me done.

Mines not doing too bad but not in contention. Very slowley creeping up in score and have had a few comments. I haven't had the chance to vote in this one as I dont have the time. I may still try to squeeze it in but it will be late at night tonight.

I got a one as well around the same time. Hopefully it will be "scrubbed" as the legitimate votes continue to help my score plummet as it is. ;-)

Bravo! I'd like to add many of these people can't even spot expert editing if it hit them in the face. I just got one comment saying they liked such and such but thought something else was "too processed". Guess which part was actually expert edited? The part they liked. What they thought was too processed had only a minor curves adjustment done to it. Go figure!

Was it your butt or your face that had the editing?

Yeah, I had a similar comment saying something in my photo looked like it was stitched in, when in fact nothing was added to my image whatsoever.

Oh well. ;-)

I'm really frustrated. I know there are A LOT of entries but regardless, this is not a 5 shot. I was actually expecting this to be one of my highest scorers and right now it's doing worse than my first free study... which was NOWHERE near as good as this one. Correction, ALL of my free studies have a better score than this and this one is so much better.

I don't get it.

I've had a couple of comments similar and my photo was only advanced editing. No additions etc and yet the comment was that two things (in nature) didn't match, but there it was when I took the photo.
