Sony?? ;-)

Sony was never an SLR manufacturer on top of the world like Nikon. Sony is just a big company that is finally getting into the dSLR world and quite possibly could carve out a big chunk of it for itself. :)

LOL... couldn't resist. And besides, I do want to see more of his pictures. I love what Nikolai has been posting. Wish I could be there!

Yeah totally agree, those guys look like they are having a great time. I'll be going to Colorado in May, guess I'll have to take the "long" way. :D

Nice shot. You don't identify the lens used but I suspect it is the Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4.0 AT-X 124AF Pro DX, the same lens TheGrandWazoo used for his fine blue ribbon winner in recent Night Shot challenge.

One thing certain, it will be easy to identify what group is responsible for most of the red rock images we will be seeing in the Free Study and Triptych or possibly Symmetry and Pi challenges. ;)

You are right on the money identifying the lens that I used. I don't like finding that info missing, but I planned to update the data later. It's done now. BTW, I memorized the settings that 'Waz' used for that ribbon winning night shot. I thought that I might be able to put that info to use here, but we have been getting up at 4:00 a.m. all but one day and have pretty much made full days of it. I've been too tired to go out for night shots and haven't wanted to be without sleep for the following days hike.

I also used a hard edged neutral density filter to even out the exposure above and below the line between where the light and the shadow meet.

We also talked about how easy it will be to identify the challenge entries that came from this GTG. I've seen some great shots from many of the other attendees.

That is so cute. He must have been right in your face to get him like that with the very wide angle lens.
He is in just the right pose to photoshop a little camera into his paws.

Here's a couple from the 1st evening. We've been so busy shooting, there's not been any time for processing.

Everyone but me is on the road. We'll see them soon. Eric, Christina and Beau left midday, while Tom and Robert left after the Wave.

I have more but forgot my cord in the room. There's just no connection there, and I'm too lazy to walk back to get it. Tomorrow, I'll post more.

Here is a bit of DPC trivia for you Eric... look at this image:

It was taken quite literally in exactly the same spot your picture above was. The only difference is mine is cropped smaller. It was a last minute entry in the Complex challenge because I thought it looked "complex" and it got a red ribbon.

Though my image is OK it was never much of a favorite of mine because all the dark on the right side leaves it looking unbalanced to me. I picked 4 pictures of Antelope taken on the same shoot to print for a gallery showing once but rejected the ribbon winner.

We're in Vegas now, and I've got to get started soon if I plan to take home millions. It was terrific meeting all you guys and gals. Becky, I cannot thank you enough for putting this together. This was one of the most well-organized and perfectly executed group trips I have ever been apart of. Each new day was always better than the day before. You did an awesome job keeping us herded and moving. I look forward to seeing you next year. Nik and Tom, I think you can look for us to pass through New York relatively soon. You talked me into it. Robert, we'll see you in the Keys if the dates pan out. Beau, thanks for riding up to the Grand Canyon with us. I imagine we'll head to Denver later this year. We'll bug you for a beer while we're out there. We'll talk to you guys soon!

Can you pick mine up while you're there? I got back from Laughlin on Wednesday and I seem to have left mine behind. :)

Great photos everyone, can't wait to see more. Wish I could have stuck around to join you guys.

Nikolai,

The shots of Bryce are wonderful. There are some real stunners among that group.

I look forward to the next group.

So where are all your pictures Becky?

And everyone else? They *must* be valuable, because you guys are hoarding them all to yourselves! :-)
