Was there this thing a bit ago about how we maybe shouldn't be revealing during voting the comments we've received? I could be wrong.. |

I got 7 words out of him, but I won't quote it as it would reveal the content. |

I got a comment from Graphic Funk once before I realized he was such a super-fab photog. It was on my self-portrait; he wrote "Great flair and beauty, bump." It was such a nice comment, especially for a newbie. |

If you find yourself seduced by colors, then don't vote on the image! ;) |

Just to let you know: I might be mysteriously missing from the website for about 2 weeks, I'm going to the States to visit my dad. The last time I was there, Internet was a scarce resource I had to hunt down, so I might not be around that much.
Oh, on a related topic - I'll be in New York from Sat 12th till Tue 15th, if any Team Suckers happen to be around and fancy meeting up, let me know.
Otherwise, be good while I'm away, and don't move to a new thread without me :) |

I'm pleased to report that I now know the sublime pleasure of a positive comment from posthumous on something that was deliberately artistic. :)

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm betting a pretty 21-year-old woman with a Scottish accent will do very well among American men. Or women, if that's your thing. :)

Yeah, especially if you keep saying, "Ye canna change the laws of physics, Cap'n!" |

Jeez, FL, did you have to go there?????
I got Graphically Funked in an approving and complimentary way on my Triptych, too.
I also wanted to thank you, Don, for your comment on my cat pic.
All my entries are moseying along at low 5s......now biggie either way, but my Triptych and Free Study will be tons of fun to share the stories of next week.
I may be able to get away to a GTG in the NW part of the state on Sunday......it'll be a last minute thing, but if I go, I'll get to meet The SAJ, scalvert, and Alan Freed.

:) Heh, I'll bear it in mind and put on my best feminine Scottish accent. It never majorly rubbed off despite the fact I've been here for years, but I think I can do a passable impression for an American audience.
I like the States, Americans are really friendly on the whole. And on average about 3 times as loud as British people, it's kinda novel :)
Anyway, last minute packing done, I'm off to bed. |

I'm of school with a sick kid so for the first time in ages I managed to vote a whole challenge in triptych and what fun it was. I was even brave enough to leave some comments, commenting takes me so far out of my comfort zone that I may need a nap to recover. But I have made a decision to suck up my insecurities and comment more and if my comments don't make sense to anyone but me then so be it.

These are some shots that I took at a local high school track meet yesterday. This is my first time attempting Track. What do you think?
Edit: on my monitor, the color looks pretty good but I haven't had a chance to see them on another one.

Have fun on your trip!
Over here in Chicago, I got a glimpse of the immigration rally as it passed by our building. Work stuff kept me from getting down there, but it was still impressive from my vantage. I could hear them, from 24 floors up and behind thick glass.

levyj413, I didn't know the rules said that a person should be entering the frame and not leaving. I guess that makes sense though. Thanks. I'll try to keep that in mind as I intend to try more of them in the near future. Track meets are all over the place this time of year. |

The next time you're high, comment on my photos! I'll definitely appreciate it. hahahaha
I just got a really nice comment from jblaylockrayner on my triptych. For a dilettante like me to impress a real photographer means so much more to me than any score! :) |

um... that's one of those fake rules that DPC made up. |

I don't think it's one DPC made up. But as it turns out, I cited that rule in praise of Bob's photo as an exception. I think by having the runner exiting, he conveys speed and energy.
I also put "rules" in quotes. :)

Before I even read Jeffrey and Don's discourse on a person entering frame vs. leaving, I left a comment on Bob's running photos that I prefer the woman (for a variety of reasons, one of them being that she is entering the frame). But now that I think about it, I may have picked up that bit of insight from Jeffrey at a previous point. It's a conspiracy, I tell you! :-)
On a lighter note (cheesy pun fully intended), I am LOVING my light box. I took these two photos of my precious tiger (Mr. Orange - ya, ya, I know, really creative) with nothing more than fill flash and overhead recessed can lighting. Please let me know if you have any tips on the b&w conversion part - I'm a novice with it.
