How's it go again?

Love like you'll never be hurt, live like there's no tomorrow, and dance like no one's watching? Feel free to correct me if that's not quite it.

Well, among voting conspiracy theorists, voting trolls, troll hunters, nasty comments, snide comment responses, people who say they have the only right idea about what makes art or a great photo, people who say they have the only right idea about what DPC should be, and other assorted forms of discouragement readily available lately, I'm starting this thread to say:

Shoot like you'll never see that subject again, edit as experiment, and enter challenges like the only thing that matters is learning and connecting.

I really like that. For me this art isn't about winning. It's about learning, growing and expressing. Shoot stuff that inspires, motivates, amuses, or intrigues you.

:-D

Relax

Edit as experiment. I like that. In fact, I just submitted it.

It'll tank, but I'll never see that subject again. :)

Nice post. Words to shoot by.

I always thought(be free to make your own mistakes but don't make them again)so I think it's ok to Shoot like you'll never see that subject again, edit as experiment, and enter challenges like the only thing that matters is learning and connecting.

Oh my gosh. If you hate what he says then don't read threads he starts.

If at least one person got something out of what he said (which I can attest to, since I did) then it wasn't pointless.

What seems more pointless to me is... oh well, never mind. If it's not obvious....

you read the title before u entered the thread if u think it's pointless why did u wasted ur time to read it and rebly

I once read the synopsis on the back of a book , I thought "That looks interesting" I opened the book, read a bit, realised it was crap. one can't tell the content from a title. hence the reason I read the post. Hope I explained that in terms you could understand.

Simms I'd be really interested to what you'd add on to

I'm not being sarcastic I admire you as a photographer and I'm interested in how you see it.

I like it, writing it on a card for myself.

Interesting analogy. Did you then proceed to write a letter to the author or his publisher telling them that it was pointless?

Can you understand how foolish that would be? Like it was said, the best way to deal with something that you feel is not worth your time, is to check it out, discover it's not for you, and then put it back on the shelf and look around some more. No?

Amusing. I have so many choices for how to respond. I could, for instance, remind you of the "don't be a dick" thread.

Or I could actually argue the point of my post with you. However, that would be like wrestling with a pig - we'd both get dirty and the pig likes it.

Instead, I think I'll simply say, "thank you."

Now, I'll let you off the hook and let you know why. I know you don't want to waste any more time reading and responding to posts that you already deem a waste of your time. I mean, that would just be waste of my time to respond and a waste of your time to read it and formulate yet another response.

Very simply, I threw this thread out there in a fit of positive thinking. It had long disappeared off the home page, when one person brought it back. But you! You're the one who said something worth responding to, so thanks for making the thread so active again.

In fact, if you'd be so kind as to search out all of my other posts you find useless, it'd ensure that everything I have to say is seen my many more people.

Thanks again!

Jeffrey, you are a class act. I found your post well worth my time to read, thank you. I also found your response to not-such-a-class-act admirable. You took the higher road. It feels better up there, to you who prefer to make other people feel crappy for no apparant reason. Try it out for yourself.

What amazes me is that there's always someone ready to throw a wet blanket on the most positive of ideas.

What earthly good does it do to go through life with such a sour attitude.

My question to you, Simms is this....what's your point?

Do you derive any pleasure out of the good and nice things in life?

Do you ever see the glass as half full?

Jeffrey, your attitude and perspective are a breath of fresh air, and I virtually always look forward to your views.

I have found Mr. Levy to be thought provoking and interesting.

But I'm just a happy-go-lucky PollyAnna of a guy who bumbles through life with a big stupid grin plastered on my face......what do I know?

ETA: Oh, and this is a stellar example of how Team Suck looks at the art and science of photography.

Perhaps exactly why Mr. Simms doen't get it.....

Nice attitude.
So, who is Simms and why does he feel he needs to belly (belie?)Jeff's ideas.
I know Jeff, but don't know a Simms.
Is there a paradox here?
