This is an open editing process. On the example I did back a few posts, I added a clip of a tongue with a piercing in it from an old image. The moss mouth I took a few days ago. So expert editing is fine. Multiple images are great, such as doing several to create a comic strip. Hdr, overlaying photos to get different parts, etc, all great. This is actually an exercise to not only get us laughing, but also to try new things you may not have done. It is a bit unconventional in the subject. It lends itself more to expert editing, as well as a thought out process before taking the image. It is actually a great challenge for those interested in doing advertising or commercial photography because when you have a client they want something within a few days. This will get the juices flowing, will get a different part of your brain engaged and allow you to create an image that may not just be primarily a quick and easy photograph. Not that the photos are quick and easy here, but many of them are being in the right place at the right time. Not so much with this side challenge.
As I said previously, you can add words to the image. It could be a caption or a conversation bubble.
That is not to say that you can't get some very humorous shots straight out of the camera. Just don't rely on being in the right place at the right time, because it may not happen. That is why I have already created a list of shots I would like to try. My eyes will be cast to the world for the month of May as I look for humor in the day to day, but in case the spirits don't oblige, it is good to have some back up ideas.

i've changed my mind, coz after thinking about it i realise i'd be hard pressed to come up with something humourous every week, let alone every day!! ... i'm going in the 30 day b&w instead ... & altho i feel sure my mental health will be at risk, (coz its on very shakey ground already), i'll be checking out this thread for sure after you start !! ..:)...

Just wanted to find out if we should can this for now. With the onset of the b&w side tournament, and the small amount of interest regarding this, it is okay if it does not fly. I don't want anybody to feel that they have to stay with this, because it hasn't started and there are other months to try, like maybe in the dead of winter when everybody could use a good laugh. Let me know. |

Seems like the B&W challenge has sparked a lot of interest. I signed up for it too, but if you decide to still keep this going for May, I will do my best to participate. But, I guess it would be easier to maybe just put it on hold.
Sorry Junie...

Put it on hold. I struggle to be funny anyway. |

Okay, it is canned. Sorry weegi. Anyway, it was fun coming up with ideas. Most can be applied to some expert editing ideas. My list will not be far. Had some good stuff on it. Thanks for all your interest. I will try again when folks are complaining big time about no motivation. Actually, a few of them were campy enough and thought out in black and white that you might see some of the humor shots showing up in the black and white thread. |

Oooooh sorry - didn't intend to overlap this challenge with the B/W Challenge.
But if you guys decide not to do this one, why not join us and throw some humor into a black and white photo? THAT would be quite an interesting challenge lol.
