Usually by this time of the day; on the first day of voting, the votes are about 70 and the scores are beginning to drop. We are still at around 40 and the votes still climbing.
Any thought to why this maybe? Maybe the new measures!?

Maybe that Rule of Thirds has over 300 entries to dilute the voting. Over in Bubbles, I already have over 100 about 70 votes, so I doubt any possible heightened awareness of the rules has anything to do with anything ....

Hmmm... Your answer leads me to ask, if you guys SC know what is the entry of each member, and do you get to vote, this is just because I noticed you knew I was asking about ROT without me saying anything to that regard. Now this is a 100% honest question and out of curiosity only. |

Conspiracy theories abound these days. It could possibly be that the thread with scores posted on behalf of ROT has everyone sitting inthe 40-50 vote range and those in bubbles are in the 80+ range. Or maybe SC is just spying on your entry.

Maybe you should wait before you add a 1 on the score board. |

We could know each member's entry, if we worked at it. Usually, if we know who the photographer is, it's more likely we found out because of the validation requests that come in or because of questions that were asked before the challenge started.
We do get to vote, and we have no restrictions on our voting, the same as everyone else. My voting page looks the same as any other person's.
I (and I know others at SC) do not vote on images where I know who the photographer is, but skip over those images. Recognizing the style or subject doesn't count in my book, that is, if I recognize one of Librodo's pictures for example (while voting I mean, not otherwise), I will vote on it.
100% honest answer, or at least 99%, 100% seems too radical :)

As far as him knowing it was ROT you were talking about, I don't think that is obvious from his post. Only two challenges went into voting today, he had a 50/50 chance of knowing which one you were talking about. Since he apparently has over 100 votes in Bubbles, it would stand to reason that you weren't talking about that one.
But, to answer the question that you really wanted to ask, "Do SC members know which entries belong to whom?"
Short answer -- no.
Long answer -- Typically, the only way we find out who a picture belongs to is if it receives a dq request. We could find out the photog's for each person, but it would take a really long time and be rather aggravating, and not worth it. I, personally, try to do any voting early before I see any dq requests, and often I will abstain from voting on the ones that I have had to study for dq requests. It just fairer (in my mind) to do it that way for me. But, that is just a personal preference.
When we are voting, we are presented with exactlythe same format of photograph presentation as everyone else. No extra info is given to us at the time of voting.
eta: all those other posts came in while i was typing. :)

Let's say your score is 6.9776 and 223 people voted for you, and my turn to vote comes and voted for you, in one of any two too radical ways.
and gave you a 1 , your score will move down to 6.9510
or gave you a 10, your score will move up to 6.9911
(6.9911 - 6.9510) / 2 = 0.02005
This is about 2 over 10 of 1 percent.
And now that you know this, maybe you can sleep better.
By the same talking, you voting 6 will have much much less effect in sendind peoples scores in either direction, and that is not good; I say you take a more positive atitude in DPC life.

You say something; that only a drunken person will perceive as a joke!
And luckily enough for you, you sometimes find a few number of people that share your soberness status with you and crack laughs at your "line".
Go back and read. I said the score is rising, elevating, being lifted, growing, boosting, and gradually moving up.
So if my friends were banned it should do only the opposite.
Watch out now; do not squeeze that puppy in your hands so hard.
And put a shirt on |
