I've been thinking through a few ideas for this challenge, and wondered about a point: need the three elements in the triptych be the same size? For example if the subject of one box is larger, or you want to give it more prominence, could you make the box larger?

I'll throw that open to the floor. Any thoughts?

I don't see a problem with this...
IMO you can make them any way you like and as different in size/shape as you want.

Judging by the previous triptych challenge, it looks ok. In fact, it may not even have to be a box.
