I'm awake ... but no bugs in sight, at least none that I could catch. Weekend got away from me without as much time to shoot as I hoped, so I may end up passing on both sets of challenges this week.
My plans for a mega-panorama didn't quite pan out, but I learned a little bit about autostitch, so not a total waste of an effort. Thought about trying again tomorrow, but going to see Willie Nelson at the Fillmore tomorrow night, so don't want to lug my camera around the City with me (and, no, they won't let cameras into the show!) |

Hey all ... just went through the Chains scores and we are looking good for our little smackdown challenge with the Spartans. Won't know for sure until the night shot and bicycle scores come in. With 5 scores in for each team, we've got them beat at the top (with Terry and Nick leading the way) so far, but they've got us beat at the bottom:
Goldeneye: 6.1750 - 6.0065 - 5.5260 - 5.4845 - 5.4304
Spartans: 5.8553 - 5.7375 - 5.6562 - 5.6329 - 5.5098
Stay tuned ... scores for both teams will probably improve quite a bit on Tuesday, as many of the above scores fall out.

I found an outtake to submit to landscape as well. Its a nice pic, but just basic editing and will probably score in the mid-5s.
After climbing above 6.12 and staying there for much of the week, my Night Shot dropped to 6.04 between votes 260 and 270. I think people are taking another look and adjusting their scores downwards ... I'm hoping it'll still be above 6 when the challenge ends.

I gave myself today to do a landscape shot. It's been raining since last night. Cloudy right now and may rain, but I'm still going to go out and get something. |

Well, I went out to shoot my landscape and forgot to take my tripod. Oops. I ended up with nothing worthwhile. I had my shutter speed at 500, and with my zoom, it needs to be at least 750 to reduce camera shake. My camera has the shake reduction, but guess who didn't turn it on? Another oops. All the shots have just a hint of fuzziness. Nothing is razor sharp. So, I'm not entering anything. On the plus side, I know where to go to get some good shots. And now have a better handle on what settings to use. I might reshoot for the free study. If my other idea doesn't work, that is.
I've been in a funk and just not getting any good shots. Unless anything really grabs my attention, I probably won't enter any other challenges until the WPL starts up. We don't have any smackdowns this week, do we?

Yep guys, we won!. Nice shooting all around. Special kudos to Nikolai1024 and hipychik who both had two images above 6 this week (though only one could count towards our score) -- including a new PB for Nick.
Way to go, team. No more smackdowns scheduled, and I don't plan to try to set any more up so we don't burn out before the season. I'll continue to track scores for us as we all continue to tune up for the season. |

Good thing the landscape challenge isn't counting for anything. I'm heading towards a new PW. 4.5!
I only have one comment so I don't really know what's wrong with it. Well...I didn't think I would score really high but...
Oh well...just as well to get it out of the way now. LOL |

Great work on the smackdown guys!
My landscapes at a very dissappointing 5.5 (really thought it would be a 6+) and my insect is at 6.5
Not long to go now, going to be very exciting! |

Congrats guys!
Just checking in from the Palms in Las Vegas. One more day of work, then head out of town to Death Valley for some photography this weekend. It doesn't look like much in the way of challenge opportunities except for possibly "Rule of Thirds III."
Cya later! |

LOL! I gotta say, being in Vegas and having a 6:00 AM wakeup call just isn't lending itself to much fun. ;-) Maybe tonight though, LOL. |

I actually fly out of LAS on Monday, but will be in the Death Valley area until then. I don't think I'll make it to Red Rock, but you guys should have a great time there. The weather is just lovely and actually a bit cool for the area at the time. |

As soon as I fly in I'll be driving to Zion NP for 2 day and then to Bryce Canyon for 2 more day. It would be great to meet fellow GoldenEye but it seems like not this time. If your plans are flexible join me at Zion.

Congrats ... I hope it works out. That's a nice upgrade from the D70, which itself is pretty sweet on its own.
Just don't let MAK try to turn you into a Spartan! |

I made it into kitchenware, but I have no clue how it will do. I like it, which means its probably heading for a 5.5.
Have a couple shots for Bubbles, but nothing I really like. I'm tempted to throw one of them up there just to see how it does, but still have a couple days to think about it some more and reshoot.
Of course if I was running around Death Valley or Zion, or playing with my new D200, I might have a little more inspiration this week. Playing with bubbles in my backyard just don't compare! :>)
