Hi everyone! I tried searching the forums but I can't find what I'm looking for, maybe someone can help...
I remember quite a long time ago a thread where the creator complained about editing, saying that edited pictures were not real and that he preferred out of the camera ones, where you can see the actual skills of the photographer.
In one of the replies, someone showed a picture of his with a lion, a very nice picture, and then added the original of the same picture, a bit flat and washed out, saying that the processing was meant only to bring back the subject to what it really looked like.
And that was true, the human eye does not see with all the mid-tones usually produced by digital cameras, and the final lion looked very natural and with a sharp focus showing all the details of its fur that were somehow lost in the original.
My brother is entering the world of digital photography and I told him he should try to learn some editing, and he doesn't agree, giving the same reasons as the creator of the thread I am looking for. As I think that the example of the lion was an excellent one, can anyone help me finding it?
Thanks! |

I suggest just let him be. After a while he'll realise on his own that you cannot do without editing :-) |

Wouldn't it be nice to have a "before & after" gallery?
Sorry, I can't help you with the lion, but keep looking around..... we have threads like that all the time, you're bound to find a few sooner or later. |

I know this isn't the one you are referring to, but it might help make your point to your brother:
Original
Edited (and Flood Filter added)

Check out the Minimal Editing Side Challenge:
Minimal Editing Thread
There are a lot of before and after photos that might illustrate the effects of post processing. |

Thank you Idnic! It's not the one that I was looking for, but anyway it's very nice, thank you!
There are lots of examples in other threads, so I think I can get many "before and after pictures" to show my brother... still I wish one day or another I'll find the one that struck me so much when I first saw it...
Thank you all for the help!
