OK! so here's the official posting thread, so we don't get all mixed up with our other thread about what the challenge should be about...I'm excited to see what everyone does!

Lisa, you may want to cut and paste from the other thread (or maybe just link to it) what the project is and how it's going to work.

Lisa-Also, you might want to ask the administrators to lock the other thread and have a last post with a link to this post.

DAY 1 ...9th March ... UNEDITED ...
i'm in australia so it might look like i've jumped the gun ... but i havent ........
i took this yesterday .. i'll put this morning's photograph in tomorrow, coz i wont have time etc ... and i'll try not to put more than 1 photo in per day, like i did in the 30 day where you live project ?? ..
at the sydney gtg a couple of weeks ago, keith firsty explained to me that the camera has a 'sweet' zone for the aperture which is usually F8 or close to it ... previously i had been setting my shutter speed and letting the camera decide wot aperture ... apparently i was doing it the wrong way around ... it's best to set the aperture close to that sweet zone, if possible, and let camera decide shutter speed .. unless you go totally manual or automatic .. all this depends on wot you're photographing of course ...
i manually set both shutter speed and aperture most of the time now, especially since my education at our gtg !!.. :)

its a shame about the telegraph poles and the grass sticking up, which ruin the composition of this photograph a bit .. also i forgot to re-set my iso to 100 .. i'd put it at 400 coz i was photographing children moving around and then drove home and saw this scene and had to stop, coz those clouds were amazing .. there was a huge storm within an hour of taking this photograph ..
i was using a polarizing filter .. it gives that beautiful vignette appearance in the sky ..

Not so sure this is my usual style... but I really like this shot. Should be fun to edit.

Hope to see a few participants here.

This looks interesting. Is this a team thing, and if not, what's the game?

See this thread for more information. Not a team thing, just for fun and learning :)

Thanks for the quick update TC. Looks like this will be good practice for the "official" minimal edit challenges for later. Is everyone sticking to the resize only one time to "exact" size rule? If I do that with this Mac, I have to post without exif or any other info with the file in order to make sure that the file is the correct size. The exif ect files add to the file size and become an unknown quanity (of kb's) unless it is eliminated before downsizing and uploading.
I don't know how much I can do in this challenge, as I am still strung out with finishing commenting on the very busy " 30 day where you live" challenge. That challenge was huge fun and rewarding , but very taxing in time and effort.

Here is my first day.

What I plan on doing is the first 7 days submit my minimal edited images. The next 7 days I will edit them using basic editing rules and the third 7 days I will edit them using the advanced rule set. Personally I love seeing the transformations of images and just seeing what is possible. I am looking forward to this.

Day 1 - Church

Sorry I didn't post in the original thread, but here I am :)

Taken today while I was out shooting for open/current challenges.

I just resized it; I think I'll post without sharpening for now if that's okay with everyone (want to get reactions on how my lenses are acting).

As I was just catching up in the forums tonight, I didn't realize this was starting, and now am tired and need to go to bed -- I'm old :).

Will start commenting on shots tomorrow!

Looking forward to this, thanks for letting me play . . .

OK, yesterday I was in a mood and said I wasn't going to take part. I changed my mind so here goes. I will be doing 7 or 14 days of minimal editing, no processing afterwards. Most of my shots will probably be indoor still life and/or macro shots. It's too cold and there's too much snow to get good shots outside these days.

How about this...
7 days minimal editing (just like xxrozxx said, no editing except to resize. Also, label your photo so people know it's minimal editing) During these days people comment mainly on how the PHOTO could be improved without using any editing. That way we improve our photo skills during the first half.
then...
7 days post processing We go back and improve our past entries by post processing. The comments given during this section are to help mainly with post processing...what people can do, how to do it, etc.)))

DAY 2 ...10th March .. unedited ..
just have to say straight off I AM NOT HAVING A BITCH .. but because we are in this to learn camera stuff maybe we should all do the same thing?? .. like i'm not editing at all .. just download, open in photoshop, resize and save for web ... that's it ...
it seems other ppl are sharpening as per minimal editing rules etc .. its going to be hard to see what various cameras and settings can do if there's been any processing at all done to the photographs ....
so re the sharpening ... maybe someone can decide ... YES or NO .. coz as far as i'm concerned we all have to be doing the same thing coz otherwise it'll be confusing ...
i can sharpen within my camera and i did that for this shot as well as increased the contrast and saturation ... isnt that wot this project is all about? ... and wotever to the minimal editing rules .. thats for challenges ... this is for learning ......
reckon this photograph would be improved heaps with a bit of sharpening ..

Roz this is just a side challenge, I don't think we all need to be doing the exact same thing. A lot of you will be doing 7 days of minimal and 7 days of editing, I'm not going to do that since I don't do a lot of editing on my photos anyway. When this was first brought up it was suggested that we following the minimal editing rules so that's what I'm doing.....that includes resizing, sharpening, rotating 90 or 180 degrees and changing to B&W if need be.

Day 1

Sharpened, resized for web, sharpened again.

One thing I have to say - you don't waste a lot of time editing. I did a whole slew of photos with mininal editing, in case I need backups. Zip Zip!

Day One...No editing at all, just shot and uploaded.

Care if I join? Sounds like it would help me get used to my new camera.

Here's hoping I don't get hit by a killer cold again and wind up not finishing. *crosses fingers*
As always, comments/critiques welcome!

I'm in. My Day 1 shot. Taken in Raw but did a direct conversion to jpeg and resize for web with no editing.
