This submission wass my fallback choice, one that I kied, but didn't think would do well at all. I'm hoping that the curve at the end that everyone talks about all the time brings this over 6 so that I'll have an above 6 on every shot on my preview page!

With the addition of Gnarf we now have 3 Team Suckers living in Norway! I really like the work in your portfolio, Gnarf. Glad to have you onboard!
NikonJeb, congrats on the climbing night shot! I think the initial voting was really low. Mine has gone up to 5.63, while not stupendous, is better than I expected from this shot. |

I'm probably using the language beyond my own capacity to employ it, as usual. I think the Scandinavian population prior to 1000 ad and Christianity was mostly, if not entirely, based on smallish groups or villages practising animal husbandry, agriculture, hunting, gathering and fishing. The situation could be delicate enough for a bad winter or a plague or something to knock the whole thing off balance. One of the options, in event of a milk cow dying or the absence of a bull from which to breed a new one, for example, was to climb in the longships and raid coastal settlements in Northern Europe. The only meds they would be likely to take would consist of munching up some fly agaric mushrooms before going into action - heh. Then the scene was set for a vikingtokt. It's all a bit mythological - there was normal trading too :)
My entry in bicycles has not yet sunk below 6 - this could bring about ructions at the top of my profile page... |

Yay Raish on the bike thing!
I'm a bit concerned on the "tonemapping" DQ thread going on. I may end up being DQ'd if it's as I read it. Sad, because though it's not a 6, it's not below 5 either (I don't think - haven't looked recently). Will wait for a ruling from the SC but I think it's not looking good. My fault for not understanding fully what "tonemapping" is allowed in basic. :(

I assembled a script which gathers Team Suck images from challenge results, so I can be the guy who posts that info after each challenge. Perl isn't my native language, but I cobbled together enough to easily handle the Team Suck Results messages.
As it is now though, I have to keep my own copy of who is on what team, as it's not easy to determine the team breakdown by looking at the HTML source of page 1 of this thread. I'll look at it each time I do a results post, but if I left off someone's image (or put them in the wrong team), don't think it was intentional..

I'm losing track of all the great scores out there. What is Team Suck coming to?
NikonJeb, Raish, Noraneko, anybody else?
Oh yeah - me. :) I have to say it's a relief that I'm doing well in the one theme I seem to able to shoot reliably (recent shots of soldier statues notwithstanding).

Would like to join you all in the 6+ club, but sadly my one fav subject didn't quite get me there. I suspect it's the lack of "wow" once again. Ah well.
Many thanks to Christian for being my 4,000th comment, too. |

i'm scarred. i looked at my profile page and noticed that i had been selected as favorite photographer one less time. upon looking at who removed me from their faves, my worst fears were confirmed; Mary removed me. i first thought this meant that she was gone, but i still found her under my favorites, and her profile is still there. the only odd thing about her profile is that she doesn't have any favorites anymore. i hope she's doing ok... :[

That sounds wonderful. This is exactly the help I need if we're going to keep up our weekly cycle of awarding Oobies and Yappies. Thank you. You da man. And you take good pictures, too. |

I just sent Mary a PM. I told her we are all thinking about her and miss her. I hope she just needs a little space and/or time and will be back. Things just aren't the same without her :-( |

My first ever attempt at shooting at night is sitting on 6.2 so I'm pleased about that. I love night shooting! |
