I just noticed the following stats on my profile page.
Total Image Views: 9650
Total Images Views: 160
What is the purpose/meaning of the second stat? It doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

Profile Views: 10797
Total Image Views: 82232
Total Images Views: 884
Maybe total number of images that have views? If so, doesn't seem to be a very useful (or interesting) stat. Doesn't seem like I have more than 800 images in my portfolio either... |

I thought that the Total Images Views was the amount of images that I have viewed...
Whereas the Total Image Views was the number others have viewed my images.
Mine:
Total Image Views: 10945
Total Images Views: 1,082 |

| I just went in and looked at one of my pics in my port and the counter clicked up. It's possible it's showing how many times you've looked at pics in your port! |

| It was/is supposed to be "Total Images Viewed" by the user. I started displaying it around 2 AM, thus the typo. ;) My apologies for the confusion. |

To what time period does that statistic refer? I'm pretty sure I've looked at more than 58 pictures in the past five years ... : (
Does it include (exclude?) only current challenge entries, or Portfolio images as well? And what happens when someone deletes a picture you've viewed?

Is the stat accurate? It shows that I have viewed 990 images....surely I have viewed more than that!!

My understanding is it regards 1000 of "your" images viewed, not how many you have looked at.
edit: but that doesn't sound like what Langdon is saying. But i thought because it was next to profile views and image views...i dunno.

I started tabulating the statistic a few weeks back. It only counts images that are out of voting, and portfolio images. Views on your own images are not counted. Just another fun, and yes, extremely useless statistic.

I suggest labeling the heading "Image views since ___" with whatever date you started. Otherwise this stat worse than useless, it's extremely misleading -- this is our profile page as seen by the rest of the world, right? |

It was even worse in the Winter -- I've actually managed to vote more than usual the past few weeks ... but those images don't count in this stat.
Of the images I have looked at recently, several were for the purpose of downloading and re-processing in the context of a couple of threads on editing, so you could also argue that it's a quality vs quantity thing ... : ) |

| I have the opposite issue with the stat than GeneralE, there's no way I've looked at 1,099 images in the past few weeks. I've been really busy and have hardly been checking in with the site - much less looking at pictures. I don't think it's accurate. |

| It was activated (but not posted) sometime in March. It doesn't count views of entries in the voting stage, or of your own images. I don't know how accurately it's been keeping track though. |

Okay, this weirded me out a bit, but I guess it's only counting from the activation of the stat? Hehe, I've viewd almost 800 images this last month alone?
Also, does it not count voted on images at all, or just not while in voting? |

I agree with the General, I am not at all happy with a "Total Images Viewed: 781", as if I have been doing nothing the past 5 years.

I agree with the General, I am not at all happy with a "Total Images Viewed: 781", as if I have been doing nothing the past 5 years. |
If it helps, Langdon defines this as a "meaningless stat" so don't read too much into it ... the heading will either be changed to give context, or the stat will be modified/disappear at some indeterminate point. |

A toast to you Mr. Extremely Useless Statistic Man. It's guys like you who give others useless things to think about. Without them we'd be forced to think about useful things. And howz bout add the most clicked image of the day. Non-challenge image of course.
Now I'm off to count the number of peanut M&Ms in the bag I just got from Target.
