I'm hopping mad, having spent literally two hours shooting and three hours postprocessing only to find it disappeared. I am aware i'm not the only one. Here's a chance to get those shots you worked so hard on seen by those who would have voted on them.

First, a couple of points for the SC. This thread is NOT intended to step on the toes of the other threads about this ex-challenge, and has no overlap with them - please do not lock it on those grounds. Secondly, this is NOT an outtakes thread for a challenge in voting. This is simply intended as a thread to show likeminded photographers images, er, "INSPIRED" by the vanished contest. Since the contest did not complete as originally posted, these do not count as outtakes - in fact, anyone who entered the vanished contest before it was locked, or who has entered the new contest, should refrain from posting here.

The point is this: I did not waste an entire day and a fair bit of money for nothing, and i am damn well going to get my photo seen. Anyone who feels the same is welcomed to post here. Having said that, i wouldn't be surprised if this thread was locked or also vanished - it would fit with the spate of vanishing contests, vanishing scores and vanishing sense of good taste that seems to have struck the site today. I know it's a joke, and i myself am all into the spirit of having a laugh at another's expense, so please don't tell me to lighten up - i'm not here to whine. Instead i prefer to take positive action, so here it is:

Now let's have yours :)

Good idea riot! Good picture too, a lot of thought and work went into it.

I'll put mine up (I put it in the other thread, but I think it'd be better to put it here).

Its not so much that the joke bothers me (really, it was a pretty decent april fools joke), but more that I missed out on having a good image (for me) reviewed and scored.

I don't feel like I really wasted time on the image, although it would have been better if they temporarily made the challenge disappear and gave everyone a chance to submit a little later. After all, we put work into these images, we should get to see them submitted.

Normally I'd hold off to keep from a DQ on the off chance they allowed later submissions, but I already posted in the other thread, so who cares.

I don't see why - it's a new challenge with new requirements. None of the photos that would have displayed in Vanish would be applicable to Changed.

I left comments on both of these photos.

Because those are each entitled to their own proper "outtakes" threads, after voting ends.

Actually I think with all the crap that has gone on today with this challenge anyone who took the photo and didn't get a chance to enter it has a right to post their photos in the forums now like this.

I don't understand. If you're going to hold others to not posting outtakes, why is it ok for your outtake to be posted here? The challenge is actively being voted now isn't it?

I only mention this because it sounds like you are applying rules one way (wait for outtake thread), yet circumventing the rules by posting yours.

If I missed the "Spinning" challenge deadline would it be ok for me to post a photo here that I missed entering under a thread titled "Shot for a spinning contest?"?

I really don't care either way, just trying to see your logic in this.

But you have to realizze that the rules went out the window with this challenge. It was posted as a 24 hour challenge but it was not left there for 24 hours for us to submit our photos to it.

I understand that 100%. But why not allow anyone to post an outtake if the rules are bent that far? Kind of a no-holds ruleset for this one - good for one, good for all.

I don't have a horse in this race so-to-speak, nor was I planning on entering - just trying to see the logic/justification for varying rules proposed by the OP. :)

Actually, he did not post this as an outtake thread, he posted it as a thread for anyone who took the photo for the challenge but did not get a chance to enter it. So if you had a chance to enter and have an outtake, save that outtake for the proper outtake thread at the end of the challenge.....understand? :)

And those kinds of threads aren't normally allowed during challenges, either, so what's the big deal? The thread was started as something that isn't allowed during voting. The "I missed the deadline" threads are always considered outtakes.

That's a main part of what I was trying to say - thanks for saying it more clearly than my attempt.

On April Fool's Day at DPC just about anything is fair game considering the circumstances - so have fun, toss 'em out there (photos - intakes/outtakes, etc...).

Again, I'm an observer on this one - was trying to see how the logic for this thread's existence was derived. No biggee. :D

I'm thinking it's fair to let this thread continue.
Maybe it's the guilt speaking :P
It's not an official word or anything, just what I reckon :)

Nice hijack...

Let me just clarify - i'm not saying that it's not ok for others to post their shots here. I'm saying that some of us worked within the framework, did NOT miss the published deadline, and our shots are NOT outtakes - they are the ones that should have been seen along with the rest, and are not through no fault of our own.

The ones who entered early enough don't need to post here, as they already have a shot in voting that is being seen and commented on.

The ones who didn't bother shooting, and are entering the changed challenge don't need to post outtakes here, as the same applies, and they will have their own outtakes thread after the (different) challenge.

The ones who spent time and money, shot for this contest and didn't get the chance to submit, are the ones whose shots are NOT going to be seen or commented on, contrary to what they deserve. They miss out on some bogus early-bird awards for their profile page that the other entrants have a 3-in-12 chance of getting.

I'm just giving those victimised by the "practical humour" of yesterday an outlet to get that work seen which has otherwise been consigned to the scrapheap after so much care and effort.

Here is what I was going to enter.......not quite as good as yours and others in this thread so maybe it's a good thing I didn't get to enter it!

FWIW, afaik red blue and yellow ribbons are not going to be awarded for this challenge due to the circumstances. Its all just for a bit of fun :)
