Crazy? I'm just going by all the computer work I've done for people, none of which required any kind of contract and if they weren't happy, we had to come to a compromise before I got paid.
No one is going to take him to court for a couple hundred bucks, the court and lawyer costs would be a lot more than that. If they pay after the fact, then there's no problem (well...), because if they're not happy, they don't pay.
If you never do anything because you're afraid of legal trouble or believe everyone who says you can't do something, you'll never get anywhere. Not to say you shouldn't practice a little 'CYA', and use some common sense, but not everyone is out to screw you over. If you're concerned, which I wouldn't be, but that's just me... talk to a real lawyer.
Have you thought about the relationship he'll have with the clients who hire him? Most likely he will have met them in person and gave them his card, so they'll know that he's young. Advertising in the yellow pages would cost a lot, so I doubt he'll do that yet... could be wrong, though. |
