I think I need to offer my client a reshoot.

Here are a couple of proofed shots

What is going on with these challenges?

Anachronism?

Is it just me or does it seem like they are trying to get less people to enter.

they do seem to be getting very random but i guess its that or you keep rehashing past challenged, Macro 8, speed 4, etc...
03/26/2007 08:28:12 AM · #2329
I think it is a GREAT subject that will yield some excellent images.

If I get my can get myself out to shoot, I've got to admit anachronism couldn't be better for Charleston. There are horses/carriages in the streets, cobblestones, people weaving baskets from reeds, old ships next to speed boats, etc.

Lea, I left you some comments on those shots - I don't think all is lost - not even close. There's a lot you have to work with and the expressions are very good. You can always ask for help from the likes of Brad and Bear, too. You'd then be able to offer some prints, as well as a reshoot - the client gets the best of both worlds and you get the extra practice (and most likely good advertising from your client to others, too.)

Nearly anything I shoot here could be construed to be "anachronistic" to non-Europeans. To Europeans, it's just normal, I think. But I'll see what I can find.

Well, at least my little break got me out of the 4's again. I have a blown area in the image that's probably hurting my score (according to my one comment anyway), but I liked it that way.

I might be AWOL again for a few days to a week. I'm switching my broadband to cable (along with my phone service) and don't know how smoothly it's going to go.

Well, I've got a shot in "Still".

Terribly disappointed with my portrait score.
Have an idea for anachronism.

I'm sucking along nicely in "Pop". The one and only time I looked was this morning at I had a lovely 4.6. The stupid "average vote" stat keeps going in the wrong direction, so I haven't a lot of hope that the score has improved. Ah well. In true Team Suck tradition, I think it's a decent shot and I like it. :-) Got one in for Spin that should score low 5's if the voters are kind.

I'm as baffled as you are. I voted your shot a 7. If it makes you feel any better, your entry has twice as many post-challenge views as mine.

Kashi, I think what hurt your score it that the setup resembles a standard department store or school portrait. It's not bad at all, there just doesn't seem to be anything unique about it (except the child of course.)

This shot is dedicated to Posthumous ... I am purdy damm sure he will like it ...

Kashi your portrait was lovely and please don't be upset by scores. I didn't vote in the challenge but would have given it a nice score. The one thing that might have taken it down a notch is that the handsome young man could have a bit more eye contact with the camera.

I think you're right, Julianne. The top-scoring shots all had something that really made you stop and look. I'm not crazy about some of them, personally, but they're definitely eye-catching.

So ignore the score and keep it as a great picture of your son. :)

Yeah, scores snores. The picture is perfect to add to your professional (!) portfolio. As I guess the boy's not going anywhere too far too soon, you'll be able to fire off more shots with e.g soft lighting and/or fancy backlighting and blurred bits, to offer as alternative styles. I think what's been said here about the lack of ART factor may be the reason for the sub six score. Don't worry too much about that - yer average punter wants this kind of shot.

I thought some of you might enjoy a couple of outtakes, lest you think my daughter is ready to become a model. :)

An actress, perhaps? :-)

That's a very healthy attitude yer daughter's showing there.

I'm not in still, anyway, so here's something I'm not in it with:

I agree. I'm going to do a multi-panel thing with those. :)
