Didn't make Channel 10 News but if my sister-in-law would still be employed there it probably would have. You know the City Police here, they are to busy harrassing monopod toting women to actually arrest the real criminal. Think we could hold up a Sheetz store with a couple of monopods? I think not!!! |
yet you said yourself you thought it did look like a gun... |

I said the shadow looked like a gun. If you read the whole thread you will see they never shined a light on it nor did they ask me if I had a permit to carry.
Had they hit the monopod with a light they would have known it wasn't a gun |

Bad accountants don't end up killing someone and get away with it :)

They do a difficult job and I support them. Sure, there are some bad cops out there, but there are also bad accountants, bad lawyers, bad doctors, bad fence builders, bad bank tellers, etc, etc. You can't condemn the police force for doing their jobs, just because you read a story last week about some bad cops.
There is an officer who does traffic control (speed control) on my road a couple of times a month. I make it a point to take him a Starbuck's gift card every now and then. I have small children and I appreciate his efforts in my neighborhood!
...just my thoughts

Don't argue with Gordon, he's from Scotland, he doesn't know 2nd amendment rights :^)
Were you outside of city limits? In Texas, conceal handgun licenses means that if you carry it OUTSIDE you can be arrested :) but if you have a CHL and you conceal it, then it's fine. I think the cops probably though you had a rifle, which shouldn't be an issue outside city limits anyway, at least in Texas.
Still, it's dangerous -- people should realize that when cops pull their guns on you, they have the SAFETY OFF and their fingers are on the trigger, and there is always a chance that the cop will pull it accidently. There was an "accidental" shooting because the cop was using a Glock, and the Glock has an issue where if you keep touching the trigger, it goes back a little. Since the safety is ON the trigger (it's how Glock designed it), the cop ended up killing someone at the end of teh day because he has drew it out 6-7 times. And it was ruled an "accident". If you did that as a civilian you'll be charged with murder.

This is a myth which probably accounts for our namby-pamby attitude towards "white-collar" crime. You think some of those Enron folks don't have a shortened life-expectancy, what with losing thir life savings, probably health coverage, and the extra stress this will induce? Not to mention any on-the-job hazards they face since they can't retire now. Predatory accountancy and embezzlement are not victimless crimes, nor are they without their actual physical effects on people.
Oh yeah, I assume you also exempt from your statement accountants who work for tobacco companies, and other purveyors of products known to be harmful when used as directed.
