I'm think of buying Photoshop 7 Bible.
Which do you recommend?
Hardcover Professional edition (nov 2002) - 672 pages
or
Paperback Standard edition (aug 2002) - 1080 pages |

not bought either but am also struggling to learn ps7.. I decided the problem with this type of book is that you have to know what you want to do before you can look it up.. I prefer to cruise the web looking at tutorials and how to's.. This gives me inspiration as well as knowledge.. Works better for me

were you folks previously using an older photoshop... or is P/shop sort of new for you?
By the way, thanks for commenting on the contest, I've only received 2 of 102 votes |

I found that (as with most learning software/computers), there is probably enough on-line content, if you just search via Google. Of course, you can always post it here. I would guess that hundreds of us are experts by now |

This is my favorite Photoshop tutorial site:
//www.apple.com/creative/resources/ttphotoshop/index.html
It has streaming video tutorials which can be very helpful.

I started using PS when version 5.0 came out. What I found was the manual was good, but it felt like it wasn't ment to be read from front to back. It's good for looking up initial questions you might have about certian functions. Before getting into PS Bible or another hefty book. I would definitely recommend Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book. You gain an incredible amount of working and practical knowledge in that book through the tutorials listed. Once you get comfortable with the terms and techniques, I would then recommend Real World Photoshop and Adobe Photoshop for Photographers.
But it all depends what you want to do with Photoshop. The above books are good knowledge bases for techniques and insight for photographers and editors. The books like the Photoshop WOW series would be more towards digital art and trying to use every filter and effect in one image. Hope this helps. |
